Dragon Age: The Veilguard

the whole pushing LGBTQ+ in games is full retard in the first place,
They are pushing their own self interest, not yours or any other gamers.

Games are meant to be a vehicle for escape...

I identify as a 40+ year old Autistic adult, who barely has a life and 0 friends.

it doesn't mean I can't enjoy your game unless you put me as a character in it, yea I wanna place this really socially awkward depressed character, that interacts with no one in the game and shuns society.

if I can't do that how am I supposed to identify with the game damn it? what do you mean 80% of the time I'm, playing as a female character instead of a male one.

I don't even cross dress in real life and have 0 attraction to males , somethings wrong with me.

don't people usually want to be the polar opposite in a game? or just something your not in the real world.

It's because they project themselves into it, they're void of any actual sense of empathy. It's like when a young kid imagines what they'll be in the future, but they never grew up. It's a horrendous writing approach to be frank, drawing from experience and having inspiration is one thing, but they literally want to see themselves in these worlds.

They're creatively bankrupt and mentally ill, this sort of thing is partly what spawned the whole NPC meme thing a few years back. A lot of the people involved in disasters like this don't really have any personality, their entire thing is their sexuality but there's otherwise absolutely nothing to them. They tend to cry about life being hard every other day from their iphones on twitter, while being supported by toxic positivity and never having learned the skills to self improve or reflect.

Do you know that there's apps/plugins which mass auto ban anyone with a certain opinion (usually anything other than far left types) for most forms of social media for personal accounts? They literally create their own echo chambers, they never engage with anything other than their own made up reality and then assume that it's the norm.

Got to be careful, a lot of people sounding awfully bigoted in here. Yes this games writing seems complete trash but guys....

We've gone way past that stage. It's gone full on conspiracy nut level x109.

Having watched some videos with the cherry picked bits, yeah it looks and sounds dreadful. However, it is possible to acknowledge that and move on rather than continue to display the same levels of brain rot that some of the people involved with making the game clearly have.

I agree with you in principle, but I think some have just become exhausted by the pervasive nature of this "culture war" phenomenon which has taken over large swathes of the entertainment industries ( and other aspects of life eg. the workplace ). Rather than give in and watch everything burn, they're prepared to stand their ground and fight for their values. And, in a democracy ( debatable that exists ! ), they should be allowed to do so. Anyway, I won't harp on any further in what is a thread about a video game. Dragon Age has many flaws, they are obvious for all to see ... and time will tell what the general public thinks of the game. Personally, I think it's going to fall quite a bit short of the expected profit margins and I wouldn't be surprised to see Bioware shuttered.

Yes and I get why people angry. Don't get me wrong, it ****** me off too. However, when each of these things happen, I always try and remain objective and think critically because otherwise you just have the worst kind of people on both sides.
But this fighting generally manifests as 'slacktivism' i.e, keyboard warriors.
One of the best ways to fight this and I'm sure most people here are doing, is simply not buying it.
If the game does flop and BioWare get shut then good riddance to be honest because some terrible decision making led up to this point. I just feel sorry for the people who don't make the decisions who end up inevitably suffering (including gamers who just want good games!)

The issue isn't the inclusion of this stuff the issue is the writing is objectively bad and the characters don't feel like real people. The interactions feel like something from a children's tv show. If the characters are well written aka baldurs gate 3 it's feels natural and real. The problem is some people here can't make that differentiation and are hating on "culture wars' and the lgbtq+ inclusion instead.

I’ve never played the previous DragonAge games - is this one that you can ‘jump right in” without playing previous?

No one here is “hating” or are “bigoted”.
These are the sort of words that are bandied about by people who are offended by others opinions that don’t fit their own agenda.
You mean like people in this thread that are clearly offended by an lgbtq+ agenda that doesn't fit their own? I have no skin in the game but like ive said in another comment, based on comments some people here seem to be missing a distinction between inclusion and terrible writing. The inclusion and diversity "agenda" is not an issue, the issue is incompetence in the way it is handled by the writers of some media. If it is well written as said it feels natural and normal and you wont even think about or notice it. Complain about terrible writing, not and lgbtq+ agenda.

What's all this politics nonsense? I'm looking in to see if the game has released yet and whether it's any good, and all I'm seeing is gay this, trans that.

What's happened to the world .. :(

I've been trying to work it out too. From what I gather, i THINK it's because they use language like they/them instead of he/she/her/him? I might be wrong though.

People love to be outraged, on either side of the argument. We’ve moved away from simply not liking something because it doesn’t jive with you. You need it to actively fail and take pleasure from it - as it’s been evident in multiple threads the past few months.

I think it’s a bit of both tbh, who wants modern day gender politics in a fantasy RPG?
