Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Even with 30 staff, you’re already paying over a million per year in wages alone. Then along with hardware, cloud computing cost and licensing you are beyond the scope of a small Indy development imo.
"imo" being the only relevant phrase here. Your opinions are far removed from basis of fact. Anyway, moving on.

30 staff puts it in the same catergory as Factorio (currently) and ~ Satisfactory (2020). I think even Klei (Don't starve, Oxygen Not Included) falls roughly in this area, though google suggests they have 91 staff currently.

I knew before I clicked this thread that there would be arguments. Never disappointed :)

On topic though - This writing in this game looks so hilariously bad, like it was written by a child - or FOR a child. I honestly don't understand what they were going for but it doesn't work for me at all.

I'm about 25 hours in now, played it a lot this weekend as we pretty much have to stay in with the dog around Fireworks night weekends as she gets so terrified.

I'm sort of baffled by the comments about the script being written for a child. There's a few cringe moments, and lots of generic comments like "Stay sharp" but no better or worse than 90% of games I play. I guess you are all playing Shakespearean-esque dramas?

I've got nearly 80 hours on Black Myth: Wukong and 250+ hours on Balders Gate 3 so have played decent RPGs this year. I can tell you the story is a hell of a lot more interesting than Wukongs baffling nonsense.

I remember Dragon Age: Origins was a good game, but it is not particularly clever with dialogue and the story is fairly generic.

No spoilers please, but I've only just tracked down Taash who I assume is the non-binary character everyone is getting in a tizz over? If that's taken me 20 hours to get there and she's an optional character you don't even have to have in your party. I'm liking the necromancer Emmrich and the Crow assassin Lucanis (Two men, gosh!)

As I said before, gameplay is a mash up of God of War (2018)/Ragnarok and Mass Effect 2/3 and that's what I am enjoying the most.

We should be glad there's a PC game with no performance issues and i've not had a sniff of a bug so far or any crashes but everyone is focused on fake reviews/sales/player numbers. Literally 100 posts over the weekend and barely any discussion of the actual game.

The jimquisition on Veilguard had me chuckling. They don't actually talk about the quality of the game much beyond that it's "ok" said with a rather unenthusiastic tone, so I assume they don't seem to think it's impressive, but the video is mostly one long **** take.

Not DAI?

That's exactly what put me off about the game, the writing... Being spoken down to like a child, playing it so safe and the decisions you make are not what your character actually says or does. So the end result is completely different.

I also don't care about the characters at all, whereas in BG3 the writing was sublime. Each character felt real and thus you remember them

What's the deal with that guy?
Is the trans/crossdressing thing legit or is just trolling to trigger people?

I never see his videos recommended to me on YouTube ever either, I wonder if it's a shadow ban. not that I'd watch him anyway...

In what sense? Just the below?

I've eye rolled at a few of their videos, but on the whole I find them pretty good. Not that I watch them too often, but the ones I do I generally enjoy.

You have neither integrity nor credibility. Unsubscribed

It seems that ££££ Youtubbers throwing out 9/10 and GOTY before it was released and are now doing U-turns.

It was in its death throes after DA:I I think. Though I did finish that game and reasonably enjoyed it up to a point.
Felt it was a decent rpg but a poor DA.
