Dragon Age: The Veilguard

And non-shilled ones at that.
I needed help understanding what non-shilled means :D For other idiots like me:

The response "And non-shilled ones at that" suggests that the person is agreeing with the idea that all games need reviews but is emphasizing that these reviews should be honest and unbiased, not influenced or "shilled."
"Shilled" refers to reviews or opinions that are inauthentic because they are biased, often due to the reviewer being paid, receiving perks, or otherwise being incentivized by the game company to give a positive review. So, when they say "non-shilled," they are advocating for reviews that are genuine, objective, and not influenced by external pressures or incentives.
In summary, the person is saying that not only should all games have reviews, but those reviews should also be trustworthy and not influenced by any kind of external bias.

Full on LGBT, the narration... Where's my puke smiley
What's changed since DA:O and ME?
Smooth silky faces!
I was wondering if it's their video tbh, because they do look weirld smooth. But then the video to me looks, weird. I don't see a 4k option on youtube for it, but the 1440p option to me looks blurry. Even worse when they start moving. Or maybe motion blur and AA. Or all of the above
Also the combat, what an utter mess
Looked like DA:I from the bits I saw and can remember. Bit disappointed when the big thing jumps on his face and he's quite clearly in the circle and yet there's no stagger.
Wasn't the original dragons age turn based?
Real Time with Pause IIRC.

I'm in no rush to get this. As much as I like the DA universe, I kinda got fed up on DA:I, and I'd wanna play that through before I'd get this.

Yes, nothing remotely like this.
No it wasn't, it was real time with pause, similar to the first two Baldurs Gate games.

Regardless, this looks like utter cack and is a massive turn off from top to bottom. I've known Bioware was dead for yonks, but it still sucks seeing beloved franchises being utterly ruined like this.

I can't unsee this:

I foresee probably an okay game, but a meltdown from the usual crowd about pronouns and wokeness. Oh and how attractive the characters are or are not.

I don't really play games for "alone time" purposes personally. That said, I do find some of the characters in this game to be absolutely hideous. The difference being, when I say that I'm speaking from a position of disliking the art direction and general design. The qunari I linked above for example, I suspect that he'll turn out to be some sort of half breed, but that doesn't change the fact it's an awful design in my opinion. It frankly looks like someone put a DA2 qunari and human into an AI image app and merged the two, then selected the worst possible generated outcome. I'd even go so far to say that well designed "ugly" characters can add a lot to a game, I don't need or want everything to be pretty, I just want it to be well done.

The story and gameplay elements also look terrible to me, but I suppose I'm not really the target audience for Bioware anymore. That's a shame as they honestly used to be my favourite development studio, but I do genuinely hope that the game turns out to be good for existing or potentially new fans at least.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard seems to have resolved this friction by completely doing away with the CRPG side of things. Granted, this is just based on one demo and a gameplay reveal, but this is how BioWare and EA have decided to showcase the game to the world, and it doesn't make a great first impression. What they've decided to show off is a game that frequently wrenches control from the player, offers limited dialogue options and features a combat system designed for the action crowd, complete with active dodging and parrying.

Like the meltdown on Twitter from the terminally online wokists and activist gaming devs when no-one wanted to play DEI land whales and trans characters in Concord, alongside a load of knock off Guardians of the Galaxy extras with colour schemes that look like they were put togther by Stevie Wonder...

Yep both as bad as each other. Two sides of the same coin.
