Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen is coming to PC

KB&M here as well and no problems. The only problem I might have on occasion is when I need to hit ESC to get into the menu to save or if wanting to check the map or change weapons, sometimes my big fingers hits F1 instead, which is a Call Forward for the Pawns ! :o :p

Glad you had fun, my pawn is now a mage for 2 more ranks, then I switch her back to Sorcerer I think. Or maybe Ranger for her to get Stability but it is rank 8 so be a while for that to happen, so not sure yet. The Stability sure helps me when the dragon start flexing it's wings ! :p

Another question, if I would go to BBI just to upgrade stuff, will that guy Barroch always be at the Duskmoon Tower after that or other places ?? Wouldn't want to have to hunt him down every time needing to upgrade something ?? Would obviously all depend what material I need to get to upgrade stuff though. :p

Sounds good!

Now, I think that Barroch can be found reliably at Duskmoon Tower until you beat the first boss. I'm not 100% on that, tbh, but I think so. I know he definitely will always be at the Arisen's Refuge once you pass the first boss.

The first boss isn't really that hard, btw, there's just a technique and timing thing for it. Definitely doable at your level if you're up for it, especially if you have a ranger pawn with tenfold flurry. The next two bosses are a lot harder, but the first isn't so bad.

I'm going to finally give this a go after I finish Gears 5 - looking forward to it! :D

So, how did you find the few first hours into the game ? :p

Thanks, will have a ponder on it about the boss, but most likely will go for the chap Barroch though. :p

Well Gri'eg has been brought to life and promptly died! Currently running around looking for some books in town and discovered a notice board with a ton of jobs on it! Some things are really easy to miss though - empty flasks on the beach for instance!

Yes, and if you talking about the aritight flask, some info in spoiler, incase you don't want to read it, although it is a very small one. Is that the name on your main character or your Pawn ? And yes, the noticeboards you find, they show a max of 6 quests per noticeboard, so once you done a couple, another might pop up. Ohh you just wait, some things gonna drive you mad to find but remember there is other places then just the streets or inside house to look for things. Sometimes you just have to become a "cat burglar". :p

Then there is one more to be found in that town. They respawn after 3-5 days or so, and they are useful if you remember to collect them on ocassion. (can also be bought but free is always nice. :p ) And you be in need of a bunch later on.

Gri'eg is my main, Misty is my pawn :) Had to stop because I was too tired to concentrate but:

I killed a cyclops, that was fun! Love the climbing monsters thing! :D )

Gotcha ! And you be dying a few more times, be careful when climbing though, some monsters throw themselfes on the back and might crush you a little. :p

What vocation did you start off with ? If I would guess since you did what you did, Strider or Ranger ??

Urrrrrm. Not sure. 2 daggers and a bow. Want some sneak attack damage! :D

You did like me then, picked Strider as your first vocation. I forgot you only have 3 to choose between at the start. It's fun and I enjoy it, both the bow and dagger as well as the double vault later on. ;)

Good luck with the game and post here how things goes, maybe we can "lure" more people into playing it ! :p

@Psymonkee and to others that playing the game. Just had a little glitch and lost a good staff that was given to me through a quest, but luckily I am using a save manager and was able to jump back a couple saves and recover it. What happened was I needed to get my weight down so moved some heavy stuff to my pawns, including this staff I just got from a quest. I then finished what I needed to do (needed to do a jump and was to heavy for it), got an auto save after picking up the item I needed and then when checking my and the pawns inventory the staff was gone.

The mod I am using is from Nexus and is called DDDA Save Manager, I would highly recommend it but of course up to each and one.

Are you able to poison your weapons at any point in the game? Because atm I'm finding flasks of poison rather pointless should I keep them or just discard them?

What I know you can't poison the weapons, only arrows, or they supposed to be thrown at the mobs as well. If you give them to your Pawn(s), they do throw them, as with water and oil, on those mobs they learned that it can be used against. I normally just remove them from the pawns instead of having them wasted. Could always sell them if you wanted, although wont get you much gold. If you an archer though, once you find ceder branches, you can combine a ceder branch and a poison flask for 20 poison arrows.

So, wasn't really paying attention as I was on my way to hand in a quest, was more concentrated on Twitch as I was watching on a second screen. :o In any case, turned out I missed an automated zoom in and when I just ran pass the person behind my character in the picture, without thinking about it, the game froze for me like this.

zgrhRVC.jpg

Couldn't do anything at all, no buttons or anything worked. Had to alt tab out and open Task Manager and shut down the game that way.

After the restart I paid bit more attention but thought I try getting up the stairs from the other end just to see what happens and the chap come running again but this time the dialogue started and all worked. Not sure why my character didn't turn around when he come up from behind but seem there is a few glitches here and there in the game.

Still loving it though, just need to try and concentrate more on the quests and not faffing around hunting the big monsters and having 'fun' that way ! :o :p

@strumpusplunket Was wondering if you know, but can one get items silver or gold dragonforged without having to go to BBI for the resources needed ? Also, once game is completed and you start New Game +, does the rift crystals carry over as well as armor and weapons ?

I don't think I can remember silver or gold DFing anything that didn't require materials from BBI, no. I think some are quite easy to find, being drops or plants in the first wing, but others are quite hard to come by.

Also, I am pretty sure that everything carries over to NG+ (including gold, RCs, inventory). I honestly can't really remember as it was so long ago I finished my first game-cycle. I think I would have been pretty miffed if I'd lost all my crystals, though, and I don't remember feeling that...

@strumpusplunket Ahem, sorry to bother you again but have a question for you if you don't mind. Not sure if you know the answer though. :o

For some reason my pawn can't seem to get the third star for Witchwood. Been around the whole area, opened the door to the back area as well, been to the grave and she does make a comment that a former arisen resting there. Searched online but can't seem to find any suggestions as to what will triggering it. Did you also have a problem getting that last star, or others ? And if so, what did you do ?

Hey, no worries matey!

I still have game installed and went it to check. My pawn does have three stars for Witchwood (ony two for Gran Soren, though, oddly, even though I'm sure I've been everywhere there). I have no idea what triggered it, though, or even if she got it whilst with me or whilst hired out by someone else. To be honest, until I just went in specifically to have a look I don't think I've paid much attention to location familiarity. I know foe familiarity can be important, but I'm not even sure what location familiarity does.

Sorry I can't be more help on that!

No worries and thank you for the replay !

As I understand it, location familiarity is more for people that rents your pawn. When I first went to Witchwood, the two rented pawns I had with me had both 3 stars and lead me the shortest way to the witch house. Instead of following the road, they took me up and over the fallen tree which is the shortest way to the witch's house. And it is also for those that has a bit of completionist in them I guess. :p

In regards to Gran Soren I was missing a third star as well for a while so googled that. Seems two common triggers are climbing up on the ladder to the roofs and running behind the cathedral, which is where my pawns third star got triggered. Although, saying that I had pawns with 2 stars for Gran Soren and taken them up on the roofs and behind the cathedral and not triggered it. Not sure if you also have to take them down the few hideouts and into the 'open roof' access where there is a chest, to trigger a star.

Was just curious incase you were more familiar with the locations etc. No worries though, maybe it get triggered one day. Going to run through the place with her later on, and destroying all the Fog Talisman's by hand and not shooting them if possible. Tried it last evening but.. went as a Magic Archer.. and for some reason the Metal Golem was awake and moving around without me even having gone close to it. Not sure if it wakes up when it is night time and 'sleeps' during the days. So since magic arrows can't destroy those amulets I just left instead, so wait some time before going back again.

Thanks again for replaying, very much appreciated ! :D

Ah right, I think I just blocked out pawn chatter to be fair! :D It's not the best aspect of the game...

"Take care not you're not poisoned.... [two seconds later] I've been poisoned!"
"Ugh, they have the upper hand" [Narrator: they do not]
"T'is a port crystal, master" [oh, like the ones we've been using regularly for the past 100 hours? Thanks.]

I did learn that shortcut to the witch's house though, after visiting Witchwood a number of times, so I guess my pawn picked up that star by following me.

And yeah, metal golems are pain. Usually as a Magick Archer you're okay because at least you have physical damage with daggers, but that one in the Witchwood with its inaccessible medallions can be a right PITA if you don't have a ranger pawn with the knowledge to shoot them.

Take it you're near the end of NG then, as you were asking about NG+? Time to bite the bullet and try BBI, I think! ;)

I do agree the pawn chatter is rather tedious, only reason I have it on is so I can hear if they say something new. And yeah, have an archer with me who shoot one of the medallions a few days earlier (which was day time and metal golem was 'asleep') but not sure if it would find the others since some are rather far away from it. So prefer if I am an proper archer myself while fighting it.

Don't think I'm close to the end yet, got the quest to meet the Duchess, which is the last quest part from the wandering sales guy and some rift crystal quests. I have one guy with a question mark walking around but since he close with the Duke I have a feeling he is going to give me main quest stuff so leaving him to last.

Reason I asked about the NG+ is because I'm thinking of leaving BBI to after finished the game but wanted to make sure all rift crystals was still with me, since have over 400k and would hate to lose them since I know they are needed when upgrading to silver and gold dragonforged stuff. That way I'm thinking once it is possible I go BBI as soon as I can in NG+ which I guess will be once I can get hold of all armour and weapons, which might be at the encampment ? If I remember right one can change armour there, although the vocation is at Grand Soren so not sure about it though. *Goes to have a check on the fandom site*
