Dredd trailer

I thought it was a fantastic film, great in every sense, coming from a fussy, long time 2000ad reader's perspective I reckon they've totally nailed it. Can't wait for the sequel?

Confirmed as No.1 at the weekend box office in the UK.

Its is still 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes after 33 reviews.

certainly a cult classic.

You may want to look up the definition of a cult film.

Anyway I'll say what I did in the what film did you watch last night thread, I thoroughly enjoyed it but it didn't blow me away. Urban makes a great Dredd and I am looking forward to any sequels there may be.

Isn't a cult actually smaller than a minority?

All I could think walking out is I wish the folks behind Dredd were making the Robocop remake.

Saw it tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it, rare these days but it's the sort of film I could watch again and again.

Definitely echo the thoughts wishing the team behind this were doing Robocop, although I fear that will be less Dredd and more Total Recall.

What a shame...Dredd's now has 2 rotten reviews out of 43 on Rotten Tomatoes......but when you look deeper one of them is from Christopher Tookey at the Daily Mail and that tells you all you need to know :)

I watched Dredd on Friday and the Raid on Saturday. There are similarities with the two films but Dredd is a much better film. I found the Raid to be ridiculous. It wasn't rubbish but the fight scenes were too OTT. That might be the point but after a while they became tiresome to watch.

Dredd has been floating around for a while and the script even longer, so it's more likely that it influenced The Raid rather than the other way around. However, I think it's just a coincidence, and there really aren't that many similarities between the two.

Saw it yesterday. Enjoyed it. 7/10 Wasn't too 3D so it wasn't annoying/headache-inducing. It took 3D in a good direction since it was pointless. Hope the sequel's in 2D.

Just watched it.

It was good. Finally a Judge Dredd movie and Karl Urban was Judge Dredd, he was brutal, quiet and stoic. The flavour and atmosphere, were spot on. The violence was ultra, you see some things in ways you've never seen them before.

I hate 3d but it wasnt bad in this, it kind of fit the aesthetics.

Soundtrack is here for anyone to listen. Not your to typical cliche hollywood crap.

I think brutal is a great way of describing this film. Well acted, and great cast and all come together as a brilliant film.

Remember all the hate this was getting before release in the first page of this thread.

That looks bad, oh dear that aint no Judge dredd:(

Watched the trailer earlier, looks **** compared to the Stallone version (and that's saying something)

Not getting my hopes up for this one. :(

That does look particularly bad.

That looks like it's going to be fabulously terrible.

Oh dear... that looks awful.

Does anyone who originally posted these comments want to back track :D

Been talking about this with folks loads, yet to meet someone who doesn't rate it highly. Next, I want Necropolis, not sure they could pull it off though!

Saw it last night, not bad (much better than Total Rekall). There was some good use of Dredd's one liners with some stunning Slo-Mo shots but I felt Ma Ma was under-acted, I didn't feel any real malice/evil from her at all and her scar make-up kept changing colour from Flesh to Red which was distracting.

I'll back track. I still don't think it was as good as the hype, as I said in the last film you saw thread, but it's a lot better than I was anticipating it'd be.
