Hey guys, wanna know a scary secret ? I was in the Army and spent 6 years fixing and modding GUNS !! ..

I reckon I've been responsible for over 7,000 weapons
from Bayonets, to 9mm pistols, 5.56 + 7.62 rifles and machine guns to 80mm mortars and rocket launchers !!

the cable arrived, perfect size nearly

had to expand the hole in the base,

someone else here with an 800D showed the steps to remove the front feet so i'll not bore you, removing the rubber feet pads with a screwdriver was the closest I came to spilling real blood on this build !! I shed some real tears and moved on..

heres the hole cut and PSU fitted

and from the top .. dunno whether I like the gap ... won't see it with the case on the desk and the side on ....but I KNOW it's there !!

thoughts ? I need urs, mine are broken ...or of boobies ...which isn't helping

I would drill holes in the bottom screw the psu in and get rid of the velcro.

tried, the cable though small is still too big to get the psu floor mounted

Off to the shop now to pick up my braided 8-pin ATX cable,

I have a good feeleing that by the end of the week this will be installed and running, then time to see what it can do

OCUK peeps, I have posted elsewhere asking but I need telling a few more times

with all the gear I have in this, is 1000W PSU good enough ? While I have it all apart, should I go for the 1200W just to be safe

is there a 1200W that hase 3 x 8pin and 3 x 6pin PCIeX power cables ?

I presume they are not modular at this power ?

I ask as I intend to overclock the everythang !!

I entered your spec into one of the PSU calcs and it came to a recommended PSU of 950W and that was without OC the graphics cards. the 1200W would be safer from the numbers I saw.

anyone else have thoughts ?

I have also used the calculators and got a similar number

does an OC add that much more power consumption ?

does the PC draw FULL LOAD on games and other non-benchmarking use?


is the 1000w enough for me or should I go get this

well, here we go again then, I'll use the 1000w while I have it and upgrade if it fails to deliver

on that note, whats a good item to use to find out power draw on a PC ? I don't own a fluke or anything .. any item that might go onto the UK socket to show readings or the like ?

3x 5870s on a single 360 rad? Would have thought that was a bit underpowered tbh. :/

Build is looking good though dude, nicely done. Just leave the Dremel alone.

2 x 360's .. all one loop now

The psu looks well in there, Really nice build.

I worked out a lot better than I thought, thanks m8 .. despite dremeling the hole in the base, the feet of the case still obstruct the right andle PSU cable so it doesn't sit flush .. I "could" fix it .. but I'm happy with it for the time being, next time I rip it apart I'll make changes

LULZ ! no kidding, she's got me steam cleaning the kitchen to get rid of my mess !

To be fair I half expected it to collapse or start smoking or for there to be explosions and fireworks... So far so good, leak testing and bleeding has ensued

Overclocking and beating the living sh1t3 outta it .. begins apace ... after I get a rest

Looking very good now, all the dremel work is paying off The last few pics even distracted me from watching scarface .

It's kinda like scar-face .. in box format thanks tho

looks great but time to spray that RAM !

I have investigated this .. I'll either
just spray the heatsink white
pay £100 and get it anodised in blue / white
I'll get the extended fins in Black from corsair
or
put some RAM fans over the top and hide it !

for my next build I may just have to make a scaled upsize dremel chassis

dremel 300 basic tool
100 piece cutting tool (used mostly the slim cutting blades which u get about 50 of)

for the fill ports i used the drill + 20mm hole cutting attachment thingy once i had cut a pilot hole after marking up ..

if you need any more please ask..
