Dremel Dream Machine!

guessing I exceeded the bandwidth so I have swapped to imageshack.

hopefully get time to swap some of the earlier build later this week or wait for my monthly reset ..

excellent final result :)

Looks epic pal, good work.

Thanks both of you, glad u like it

Minor build update :

tried the RAM fans that come from corsair, they are all black once the red stickers are removed, and it's too much for the "look" :(

so I'm looking at buying the extra fins just in case and then either painting over, or stripping then painting the RAM heatsinks in white.

will post pics when I do something.

there's a few other adjustments I want to make as well ust to tidy stuff up and etc.

any suggestions from you guys appreciated

Thx again all,

so temps are good, I started with the RAM to OC.

set timings to 6-6-6-20 and 200mhz x 8.00
booted no probs and passed MEMTEST86+
into windows no probs, ran a gaming session of Metro 2033 on FULL settings
at 50 mins the screen started to artefact, horizontal lines of interference
so I can only presume the RAM as that is all I tested

Temps on CPU and GPU still well within tolerance (39 degrees CPU, 45 GPUs)

going to drop back to 1333 on the RAM and see if it replicates tonight

think i fried it ?

been getting random crashes in games all day,

cursed my luck a few times and re-installed drivers and did all the usual carp

still probs and it kept getting worse, total PC freeze after 10 seconds of FURMARK... "Hmmmm weird!" thought me..

checks my OC in BIOS etc.. all fine

reboots and takes a glance in the window and whaddaya think i finally see ?

that's right .. a goddamn river running through my rig ...Grrrrr

so anyways, grabs me camera...then tinks.."better turn off the lecky!" kills the power and starts draining and ripping it all apart ....

glad i put that drain line in !

anyway, this is the damage, it all dripped down a pipe and pooled onto the gpu pcb,

so, is it dead you think ? or can i just clean it up ...

how the hell do you clean this crap anyways ?

okay .. off to chemist tomorrow .. thanks

I've just stripped the block away and water was nearly at the GPU .. nothing near a capacitor tho as far as i can see .. it was still running in windows so hopefully not totally dead .. we'll see i guess..

gutted i didn't spot the leak tho, it's one of those plastic clamps on a barb on the top RAD.. I should have seen the drips, but nvm :)

and i crashed my Audi A3 today ! .. I'm just gonna hibernate for a while till my luck passes :p

found IPA swabs from the pharmacy, worked a treat to clean it.

BUT

the main card that got dripped on (the top one) works ... even ran furmark

now the other 2 that were X-fired don't show in device manager ..

I stripped them all and cleaned and reapplied thermal paste etc..

so now I have no clue what to try

whats really weird is they show temps in GPU-z !¬

just don't show in device manager or in CCC ... Grrrrrr... back to the drawing board
..

I fixed the damn leak at least :P

lol yup ... i did a certain amount of that when it was finished .. no denying it :P

but I usually clean up after meself ... this however is a vexing residue of some concern and no doubt !

I guess I have to strip it down again and see if I've shorted the cards with the waterblocks or somethin

okay

really damn confused now !

put air coolers back on all 3 cards .. ran them all up one at a time and all work fine .. ran a few minutes furmark each time to be sure.

okay.. then ran 2 cards in crossfire, no problem

then ran ALL 3 - air cooled in trifire ... Ran furmark .. not a glitch !!

put the waterblocks back on .. was as 110% careful as possible..

installed the loops and topped her up ..

WooHOO ... got TWO cards ... TOP and BOTTOM ... the piggy in the middle is still being an ignorant ******* !

So where now ? I know they work (thank the lord !) but what have I done wrong in putting them back in ?

didn't knock anything .. couldn't see any contacts that were shorted on assembly

Just plain WEIRD !!

Really don't know what to suggest about the trifire being a funny git but I just seen on another mod how to remove the paint from corsair ram, I thought it was anodised but looks like they are painted.
Remove the red bits at the top, paint stripper applied with paint brush, wire brush to help get it off, paint wise I would do an ultra light coat of primer like 1 quick pass & do a light but thorough coat of colour of choice or leave bare metal, avoid metallic paint as it needs a coat of clear laquer.
It's what I would do personally if I had that ram & wanted a different colour.

you are AWESOME

thanks

will try this in a few weeks when back off holiday

Bandwidth exceeded OCD-OC :( Time to upgrade to Photobucket Pro!

I hear ya ! .. it'll be back online ina few days after payday I hope.

In better news, I stripped the rig out last night and re-applied the waterblock to the middle GPU..

all is well in the world now, only really a few niggles that make me believe something is still not quite right

Furmark runs perfect .. apart from the text and the graphs flicker .. the image of the dohnut is pixel perfect but the overlay flickers like crazy.
Also in furmark, I can't select MSAA mode ... weird

in games I expected to be able to slap on some more seetings .. I'm at max quality but in game (Metro 2033) I can only realistically apply AAA and 4xAF .. anything higher lags a bit.. it looks pretty but kills gameplay ..

I'm happy with the settings I'm at .. just thought it'd be better... maybe I blew something up?

other than that, it's back in the water loop and no leaks so far all looks good again

Cheers for all the support

oKAY .. ! My Single LED in the bay res has morphed into a strobe !!

it flickers flashes and other funky stuff.. the annoying thing is .. it's on the same molex chain as all my Fans ... they all work fine ... so I can't see a problem

Unless .. can you run 6 x GT1450's off one Molex rail ?

I fried the fan controller in the last rebuild ... to be honest I could care less as the temps were never accurate and it (NZXT Sentry 2) was pretty pointless as I ran all the fans at full rpm anyways..

so .. any ideas ? do LEDs flicker before they fail ... strobe effect is 100% accurate description.

or should I change some fans onto another rail ?
