drink driving limits

Or you could ask G-MAN2004 what he thinks of drink drivers.

Pretty sure that'll give you a much needed slap across the face.

Spot on and lets not forget the people that have to tell families that there loved ones have been killed by a driver over the limit, funnily enough a friend of mine had to do that that last week.

would cost about £60 , and I do this most nights .

Then you romperstomper have a serious problem.
To be willing to spend £60 most nights just so you can have a drink is madness.

Just to play Devils Advocate here and I witnessed this with my own eyes.
I've got a lot of Traffic Cop mates who I go out with quite regular and one night I gave one of them a lecture about how much he'd drunk because I'd seen him down at least 6 pints but he confirmed he'd had 7 and he was driving.
He took me to his car, got out his official breathalyser, got a colleague to set it up, blew in it and he was below the limit
He claimed that when he was at full fitness going the gym every day he can put away 7 pints without going over but if ever he stops training for a month then he goes down to 4 pints.
During training Traffic Cops go on a weekend binge where they do all sorts with alcohol and breathalysers.

Thats what the thread is about though making sure I'm Not over the limit .

Its 1 pint of beer not 6 .

For those that think thats wrong then you should be trying to get the law changed .I believe its currently being considered to drop the limit soon anyway .

i hope to god that you get taken off the roads before you hurt somebody.

i speak from experience, i lost a good friend in January to someone that had just a couple of pints.

The sooner the limit is dropped to zero to avoid any confusion, the better.

Out of interest, what car do you drive and how long have you had a licence? Also how would you rate your ability to drive prior to drinking vs your ability after a pint?

I can testify this is the truth, ive been brethalysed after about 4 pints of stella, and the meter didnt even go amber, it just stayed green. (much to my shock, I thought I was banned for sure)

And belive it or not, I was fully sober, I was doing intensive weight training at the time, and was taking various hormones and food suppliments, so my metabolism was just destroying the alcahol.

Tbh, home breathalysers are a bad idea, as all they do is encourage people to drink right up to the limit, which even though may pass the police test, is hardly a good idea! When ever i drive, i just don't drink. I once drank half a pint, and that night i got breathalyzed, i didn't feel drunk, and the breathalyser said i wasn't, but i was crapping myself till it said it was all clear!

I'll admit to having a couple of pints at work and then driving my bike back home. Got pulled over and did the whole breath thingamy, I was under the limit but only after a couple pints I was obviously a concern to the police who pulled me over. You may think you can drive back fine, I thought I was driving perfectly normally but it was obvious to the police. Never again.

So you think it's ok to drive with impaired judgement and senses, needlessly putting your own and other people's lives at risk?

no lectures about not drinking at all please ;)

TBH Im not going to give you a lecture just dont ****** do it.

I think people that drink and drive are pretty horrible people with quite clearly no care in the world apart from themselves. You proved it by asking for advice on how not to get caught getting as close to the line as possible.

If you had 1 drink how went out for a drive, didn't feel drunk and are under the limit, then had an accident and killed someone.
Would it not always hang over your head that that one drink if not consumed could potentially have saved someones life. Maybe just that fraction of a second that your reactions were slowed could have changed the circumstances and thus how the situation panned out.

I had a freind who died at the hands of a drink driver.
I oppose it for the most part, however, I don't see the problem with having one pint if it won't affect you. I very occasion have two slowly over a long gig. Because I know it won't even touch me.

I don't consider it drink driving, I consider drinking so much that you are tipsy or starting to feel it drink driving, because things change in your driving then.

Don't go by the breathaliser, go by what is safe for you, some people have different tolerances, i know some people can feel the first or the second pint, which, to me, is slightly wierd, 6-7pints and they're gone kind of people.
