M6 was a bitch travelling north, ended up driving though Stoke/Newcastle as a detour! All of the jams I got caught in were due to roadworks.

Leave as early as possible and aim to be as far as possible along your chosen route by 8am. I'd be looking to do it in one go.

Should be fine. Sunday mornings are always good times to travel anyway but more-so when it's Bank Holiday Monday.
