They are so expensive for what they are.

Nothing new either, they've been round for years.

What's the big fuss with drones at the moment?!

The use of the term drone really annoyes me, people wouldn't call an rc plane or helicopter a drone so why a quadcopter?

Is that bottom one made out of some type of foam?

Yes, and the one above it. They are both the same, you can swap the bodies over to the enclosed beginner one or the more sleek one. I have an AR Drone 2.0 I got free from work and I've probably used it about five times in nearly 2 years. :)

Does anybody know if some of the cheaper drones in general (even the AR) is able to have some form a custom bracket fitted to add lifting devices to carry very light weights? or is that too far out of their capabilities?

Maybe an ikea sized pencil. Any more will be a struggle. You won't get a gopro on this and be able to take off, that's for sure!

Seems a bit steep to be honest. The much more capable, hgher end pieces of kit are available at a similar price point. For example, my 250mm quadcopter build cost £10 for all the parts, most bought in the uk so have a premium over hong kong sellers. Leaving £50 for video kit, £100 for radios and £40 for batteries etc.

I'll stick to mine ;)

Those are some pretty overpriced drones OcUK are stocking, jus saying :/ for those prices I would be wanting a decent (not toy looking) frame kit, decent radio gear, decent flight controller with GPS etc for the upper end prices.

Nice and thanks - first real input I've had after a fair bit of searching the web. Trying to come up with something for a community project (requirement of my apprenticeship) involving 3 sectors of equipment, one of those being a flying capable device which can lift a light weight of some kind.
The bracket itself would be made of relatively lightweight material (obviously), just thinking if there's anything on the market which would have the power to fulfil this requirement.
