Catch me on defiant radio 8-9PM every Wednesday!

Enjoy.

It's been a while since I last posted here. You guys need to listen to something other than the wobbly generic crap thats being churned out by the likes of Circus Records etc. So much more depth, quality and melody!

Haha thanks. I completely forgot the youtube code and had to guess!

Swamp81 is killing it at the moment. Footcrab / Dumb***t and Sexual / Work It by Addison Groove are massive releases.

Also, if you're into the more deeper / sub-bass driven sound, check out Youngsta's show on Rinse. He plays the likes of;

Icicle
Verse
Headhunter
Benton
Kryptic Minds
LX One
Distance
Pinch

Anything from the Deep Medi / DMZ crew is also big;

Mala
Coki
V.I.V.E.K
Goth-Trad
Truth
Calibre
Cyrus
Quest
Silkie

Ive been out of the loop with new music recently. Fern cotton played this on R1 earlier...i couldnt help but rock.

How can you call that music?

Don't get me wrong, I like a bit of jump-up every now and then but that's just god awful noise.

Sorry!

Each to their own at the end of the day, there is no place for people being elitest with music, I hate that... but I do generally prefer the deeper, more serious and musical sound. Most of the tunes posted by Robi are commonplace in a lot of sets I listen to. But sometimes, they are too subdued and steady and can feel boring.

Thus as said a bit of hyped up madness has it's place, but not circus records stuff for me really either :) Coki however... gwaaan lol

PS: it's all about the LD remix of 0800 dub ;)

Exactly.

I love all forms of dubstep as much as the next guy, but when Doctor P churns out the same song with a slightly higher pitched sound, boring doesn't even begin to describe it.

I started getting into it a couple of years ago with Chase and Status Pendulum and Rusko. Been to many Dubstep nights which have been fantastic. As its become more commercial over the past year with Magnetic man, Katy B etc it seems to be getting crappy. Skream & Benga only played a couple of proper dub tunes and the rest were charts type rubbish the other week

Saying that there are many other fantasic artists, here are some of my Favs

Rusko
Bar 9
Cookie Monsta
Flux Pavillion
Borgore
Genetix
Skism
Doctor P
16 Bit

This is my gripe. Dubstep has never been about high frequencies, never. The sound revolved around sub-bass, minimal percussion and dark menacing beats. I could bet all my savings that 99% of this new NME loving fan base wouldn't like the original roots.

Compare The Goat Stare to Sweet Shop, completely different. Obviously each genre has different variants, like drum & bass has jump-up / clownstep.

Whatever floats your boat.

I'd brock out far more if 10 Dread Commandments VIP or Neverland was dropped in the dance than Big Boss by Doctor P.

As Mala said; "You can't put man in a room with no sub".

Kromestar is doing tings deep these days, his stuff is great.

unless you are 100% that all artists involved have given consent for free distribution then please do not post

Darkstep?!

Are we talking Youngsta vibes i.e. Verse, SP:MC, Kryptic Minds etc or Skrillex with darker mid-range?

The latter being awful.

Didn't mean to offend, just sounds like terrible mid-range bass with no progression and a standard movie/tv show sample before the drop.

Each to their own and all that.
