Dune: Prophecy

Better episode this week setting things up and seeing how things might pan out, leaning more into the magical side of the universe and people that we didn't see that much of in the films.

Cracking second episode. This is getting really good. I notice Hunt always touches something in his temple when does burny burny, does he have some kind of implant doing it?

Is the Emperor depicted as being so ordinary and powerless in the books ? Just like a normal Duke.

Like any other monarchy, different holders are weaker or stronger. Besides, and particularly after episode 2, I think his weaknesses are a plot point.

The emperor doesn't seem to ooze authority at all, like he's always doubting or 2nd guessing everything.

And the voice failing at the end, made her and that power look feeble.

I quite liked both episodes although I think it's not a top tier show, and definitely a lower grade when compared to the films. Very heavy on CGI, costumes poor compared to the films, acting is not top top quality. I think we've been spoiled by GoT etc setting the bar so high.

However, the storyline is solid and the atmosphere/world is good, which means it's still a good show. So far at least.

Episode 3?

Game of Thrones.... The Starkonnens again.
So 50% of the way through a series and ... Nothing "big" is really going forward.
I assume this will get a second series to actually tell a story?
I guess I'll have to pick up the infernal Brian Herbert books afterwards.

Still positive but only cos I'm a fan.

Slow episode again this week giving backstory on the Harkonnen's, good to see Jessica Barden getting roles again and she's playing the part well as the Young Valya.

Funny that it's so marmite. Usually I'm very picky about the TV shows I watch and I'm really enjoying this.
The writing, direction, and performances are awful. It just feels like a cheap TV drama, every scene is so ham-fisted. The director is trying and failing to ape Villeneuve.

The sets are terrible.

If this was 10-15 years ago maybe it would be forgivable, but compared to modern TV standards, this is tripe.

Fittingly appropriate given it’s based off Brian and Kevin’s literary desecration of Frank’s universe.

Worth watching? I disliked the recent two part villnerve version
Not really then.

Its based off of prequel novels written by Franks son and they've always been considered "different" a lot of people dismiss them as garbage, i tried reading a few way back and got a bit bored...
Im a bit disappointed but it might get clever or good. Right now its just lip service to the Villeneuve style and unimportant filler story.
