DVB-T2 PC TV Tuners?

Dear god they took their time.

£99?

Is that supposed to be some sort of a joke?

For the price of two of them put an extra £20-30 and you can get a dual tuner 500Gb DVB-T2 PVR???

I wanted to get rid of my 2 satellite tuners as satellite in my area is very flakey but i get full strong DVB-T signal, but £200 for 2 tuners is way too expensive.

It's the only one on the market and DVB-T2 is pretty much UK only at the moment so it will be a while before prices come down. I thought £99 was reasonable, was worried it might be something like £150.

I plan to use in conjunction with my other card under the assumption that if two HD programmes clash I'll record the better one in HD and the second in SD on the other tuner. Not ideal but it's a start - I was about to go to Tesco and buy a STB until I heard about this.

Yeah thats what ill have to do, get a t2 and a dual tuner dvb-t, but i dont know if its possible to assign a tuner to record a specific tv channel?

Sigh, that wouldn't surprise me. Thanks for sharing that information though, and welcome to the forums!

The wait for Freeview HD on our PCs continues then.

Tis a dual tuner and is £90 from their website, not a bad deal. If I could get any kind of reception in my room I'd probably get it. However, I wonder how it would handle the 50i/p to 60p conversion. Some applications do it well, some do it horribly. My monitor does have a 1080p50 mode but there is always tearing unfortunately.

Looks great for an HTPC + TV combo though.

It's £89 +VAT +postage it comes to £115.

I'm not sure about the software for viewing, but as I'm reading I'm seeing DVB Viewer mentioned more and more.

PC Pro has a review this month of the Hauppage PCTV290e - freeview hd tv tuner.(Usb stick type by the looks of it)

£80 inc vat

Still a bit steep imo - bought a full size box to sit under lounge TV not long ago for £70 - AND really want a PCIe card anyway (Any manufacturer reading this - I would be buying if such was £50!)

Your Freeview HD box presumably can't record though - these tuners can so you need to compare them to Freeview+ HD boxes, which are £200+.

The one for £115 is better value for money IMO since it has two tuners. Never know if you wanna watch & record something else simultaneously!

Bought one of these for a shade under £60, it's available in 2 or 3 places at this price currently. One of them wanted £4 for delivery and the other £2. Other places are £80, more or less.

I'm still surprised there aren't more DVB-T2 tuners available for PCs. It's a good thing this one works OK though as being basically the only product sometimes means limitations. Would have preferred a dual tuner though.

I chose this for the upcoming F1 coverage in HD and fancied the ability to record the stream without needing a £200 box.

The included antenna is useless and picked up 0 channels. Hooked it up to my roof aerial and it picked up 105 channels, and the aerial is nothing special.

Playing back recordings of HD channels doesn't seem to provide Audio unless I use VLC Media Player though. This must because of a codec that is supported by VLC but not WMP or WMC.

I've edited the post. I meant the aerial is nothing special.

The HD reception, recording and everything is good.

Works well in Media Centre (incl. HD) as above and also well with the included software.

we have the blackgold one, seems to work ok. I think the issues with changing channel taking long etc is the filesize of recorded HDtv is twice that of normal deffinition, and i think the hd broadcast is more compressed as a format?. some stuff looks fantastic tho, human planet, bear family etc :D

According to my transmitter information (Wenvoe) the HD channels are 40Mb/s and encoded as Mpeg4 streams. According to VLC player that stream is H264 Mpeg4 HVC and at 50 frames per second.

Whereas DVD-T streams are 24Mb/s and encoded as Mpeg2 streams.

I've noticed though that SD channels take a few seconds to sort themselves out too. This isn't unusual for me though as my HDTV takes a good few seconds to switch channels too. Must be something to do with catching keyframes perhaps.
