It's worth every penny, do not hesitate to buy one if you're thinking about it :)

Are HD video recordings still copy protected when recorded on a PC? I know with Humax PVRs you can install Linux and decrypt video.

I absolutely love it, it all runs so smooth! Running it on an Althlon64 3800+, it runs at 26-30C, it's all so smooth, everything works so nicely.

Currently ripping a few DVDs for XBMC and get that all sorted.

Best thing I've bought this year without a doubt, even my mum wants one now :D

Not sure, how would i test it?

Always great when you have new stuff to build and play around with.:D

Done a little testing on file sizes.

Footy on ITV.

7.5 mins on SD 243mb
7 mins on T2 HD 556mb
7.5 mins on S2 HD 580mb

QI the other night.

34 mins T2 HD 1.06gb
35 mins S2 HD 2.2gb

I think some of the S2 stuff broadcasts Dolby Digital Plus on some of it's programs. (Is highlighted in the guide) Might account for the x2 file size over the T2?

I just recorded Waterloo Road in HD which is 62 minutes, that's 3.49GB. I guess the audio could account for more space but surely not twice as much?

The quality is still very good though. I have a Sky dish here with a quad LMB fitted, I may eventually switch to S2, as I think that's going to be the future!

Yeah, I'm just overly picky. If I can get the higher quality signal I'll usually go for it :p

You can get a dish and all the other bits required for about £20 so it's not that expensive. I've not set up a dish before though, I guess it isn't too hard to do though? That and a Humax box would be an ideal solution for me I'd guess unless I could build a cheap media centre.

I used to have Sky here, so dish is all in place, and I have some twin coax already so it'd be easy to do if I wanted to. Freesat doesn't have Dave though :o haha!

Yeah, the quality on the footy (Sat and FV) looked the pretty much the same to me, not done any comprehensive testing though, both were much better than SD.
