Easyriders Cinema Room

What about printing one of the said images, taking it to an engravers and getting it engraved into a stainless backing plate?

Or... plain stainless backing plate, engraved perspex attached to the front of it and lit up some how...

ditch the signs idea, i agree that they look too tacky.

Im sorry but I have to express the opposite on everyones opinion on this idea.

Yes I agree that if it is placed out in the open for all to see then its tacky, but I reckon if placed strategically, like perhaps behind the door leading into the cinema room from the house, that could be quite special.

Imagine you have some friends over for the first time.......*ponder*.....

they are like:

dude im gonna blow my load this setup is awesome...gooo easyrider.

then you sit them down and get ready to watch a bluray and you get up to close the door.....as you close it the TrueHD plaque becomes visible for the first time.

Now, no one has to see it and you dont even mention the plaque is there but....if....a friend sees it out of the corner of his eye...his impression will be....

'Crikey! im in for an experience now! this is awesome! TrueHD must be good as the name just sounds hectic! woot woot *jealous*'

Thats just my thought on the matter....perhaps I should stop drinking :) but thats my stance on the plaque idea.......keep it away discreetly....if people notice it then cool...otherwise you know, at least, you are giving your system the recognition it deserves :)

lol no matter how much I quite like the idea of the signs - if I had my mates around their response would be:

"Errm... that's kinda lame" :p

A cinema room on its own could be considered geeky. It's all about boys and their toys after all.
But its just like everything else, you do it because you want it. Stuff everyone else, as long as your happy with it.
I love what you've got planned out so far easyrider, I admit I havn't read all the post but i did at one point see a Bravia box, 32inch i think... if that is indeed the TV you have chosen then shame on you.. spending all that money on a cinema room and skimping on the size of the tv... Cinema aka THE BIG SCREEN!

A 92" screen with a TV behind.

And the Screen debates must stop now.

I want to keep this thread on topic.

Its my cinema room and I'll have a sign if I want to :p

Just thought I'd say, although it is easyrider's room and he'll have a sign if he want's, if I had a room kitted out the way I wanted, I would let the hardware do the talking and if anyone asked about it I would be more than happy to answer.

Signs are awesome mate. When I have a room like that I'll definitely have the appropriate signage, placement is key to making them look less tacky.

i dont know whether i'm a bit late on the colour preference, but i'd look into what colour walll makes the colours stand out more;i was going to say black but im not entirely sure.. as that was thw whole point of backlighting..

Been Painting all day and finished the base mist coat.

I hate painting so thank goodness for 6 Music on the Radio :D

Its not going to be this colour:p

I have had it made so its 450mm deep allowing all my AV gear to be housed nicely. :)

The nice thing is its modular,so I can add more shelves etc...As my equipment grows.

I can add stuff like this to keep things cool etc..

Have draws etc.. if I want

Nice idea to use server racking, could come together very nicely. Is it to be on display or hidden away? Racking might look a bit odd with mismatched components? Ie lots of blank space?

I can't link you to it as it could be classed as a competitor but one of the big broadcast suppliers sells a rack mount wine rack and a rackmount fridge.
