Easyriders Cinema Room

What colour are the lights now then? I imagined they would some kind of light purple or violet colour? Are they on a dimmer switch?

The colour is just like in the pics...I light bluey led colour :p

The main Lights are on a dimmer 3 on each side wall.

They are very subtle the leds and hardly give off any light.

Its just for mood.

The electrican will know more after I have finished painting:p

Something along the lines of that

Kryptix on avforums has a couple of signs off a seller on ebay, imo they dont look tacky at all

although the placement does nothing for me, it's allll about the thx ultra logo

personally i think those THX and DD plaques are about the lamest thing about, why not complement them with a replica Eifel Tower on your lounge mantlepiece ....i'd ebay them and put the cash towards a setup worthy of those tacky plaques at least.

i mean look where his center channel is :p

In the centre? :p

EDIT: Thought about an infra-red dimmer switch for your LED and normal lights in general? It would mean you could use your universal remote to automatically dim the lights at the same time you hit play? :-) (Although its probably a little too late for this now!)

Thats a great idea,

Got a link?

Its not to late!

Easy, what are you doing for seating?

The guys off penny arcade built a little stage to replicate seating in like a cinema, where the back "row" (sofa) was higher than the front "row" (arm chairs). That'd be kind of awesome (if a bit too tacky for your stylish room?). If not.. my question stands!

Was going to get a corner sofa and some black leather recliners.

I don't think the room is big enough to warrant a stage! :p

Can I ask, what size is the room?

Just had our room skimmed. Was previously wall papered, but after a lot of elbow greese (and I mean a lot!), I got all the walls clear of paper including that awful dry wall.

Room now smells like dung :p

Its roughly 25 m2 mate:)

Ok I just relised that both my questions have been answered in previous pages. whoops!

I'll be letting the plaster dry naturally and then once fully dried (I'm leaving it until Monday), I'll throw on a 50/50 matt emulsion / water basecoat. Need the rest anyway after all of that scrapping, legs are bruised to hell from the kneeling down.

Think I have found one ....

I''ll keep you posted :)

The lutron one? Or another? The problem I saw with a couple of the dimmers is they only do 'stages'. What you really want is one that can fade out allthe way smoothly, just like the cinema :-) the ******s one did that.

Looking good.

Try and avoid a white ceiling, lots of light reflection from PJ sometimes.
Grey or silver ish colours may be better but seek advice on AVF on this matter.

Gave mine away years ago too its a bit lame imo as well, cos okay cinemas have them but what next you going to install an ice cream counter and popcorn?

I suppose it comes from pride in ownership and perhaps an essence of achievement, bit like a trophy to the owner almost like self assurance.

Then again some people go out buy a Corsa and then have a big "Corsa" sun visor on it just to remember folk what it is. Whats cool to one bloke is gip to annother eh.

Everyone has their own ideas, oh and regards positioning forget teh centre channel having an AMP on top of a sub is just a fantastic idea and totally backs up what youd expect in a DTS endorsed enviroment, there you go my conclusion to the persons way of thinking and plaques being daft looking particulary when the owner doesnt seem to have a clue making the idea of the plaque look even more stupid!

Same kind of guy puts 16V on his car or Turbo or pretends it to be something people know damn fine well it isnt, cant explain why ones do it but heck if placques are your thing dont stop there.
Get a £20 THX baseball cap as well and a Dolby Digital T Shirt!

:)
