has anyone else seen the notice on ebays website? from Jan next year they are putting a limit on postage charges on certain item types... and they admit that it may not cover the actual postage but hey thats your problem. And they will be forcing sellers who sell mags and DVD's to post them for free... FFS is ebay determined to drive everyone away?

I dont know if theres an offical complaint email address we can send to but this is getting stupid considering they have now put the charges up for sellers to 20% + PP charges ..

Oh and incase you need it I managed to track down a phone number for ebay !!! 020 8080 2105

There's good and bad points out of this - means certain eSellers can no longer charge someone 20quid just to post a mousepad via 2nd class post.

but if your stupid enough to pay £20 delivery for a mouse mat then you deserve what you get....

The one that grates with me is the paypal ruling that makes me wait up to 21 days to receive the cash if the buyer doesn't give any positive feedback.

Puts me off selling on there anymore...

not come across this one, echeques cause delays but this is because the buyer doesnt have a card associtate with their account, I have a £1.58 e-cheque bounce last week !

eBay mainly seems to be a listing for dodgy Hong Kong accessories on Buy It Now these days. Not that Buy It Now is bad - just pretty far away from the notion of auctions.

Ebay love to shoot themselves in the foot

I would rather buy & sell on private forums - there is exactly the same amount of protection - none

What annoys me about ebay these days is that you HAVE to offer paypal. I dont have nor want paypal, you can pay me lots of ways, cash, cheque, postal order, bank transfer etc. I am not going to sell stuff on ebay, pay ebay some fees and then pay paypal more fees, who are also owned by ebay. bananas to that!!

Ebay was ok 2 or so years ago. Now its getting stupid. too big for its boots.

So when i sell something i put in big letter I DO NOT TAKE PAYPAL

The good outweighs the bad, ok people who sell dvds may lose out by 20p for p&p but it stops endless amounts of items that have a £20 p&p charge to avoid ebay fees. Personally this doesn't affect me as I only ever charge the proper amount of p&p, nor am I a business selling massess of dvds.

Ok, an envelope.. 20p
postage for DVD .. 56p(ish)
recorded delivery ... 72p (because if you dont ebay screw u if the buyer says it didnt get there !)
fuel to get to the post office 2 miles down the road £18.52..

I fail to see your point :D

if it costs £2 then you should be able to charge £2, if you want free delivery choose another seller

Personally, as I mainly only use it to buy the odd item, its good news.

I was looking to get TestDrive Unlimited today and when I was checking the prices they were pretty good until I looked at postage. The vast majority were £7 to post.

It's so damn annoying when you have to check two prices instead of one when buying an item. I imagine eBay have done this because when they calculate the fees postage isnt included so they make more money on it and pay less fees hence why eBay is cracking down on it.

its forcing honest sellers to dip into their own pockets to pay for delivery , Ebay should find out the repeat offenders who break the rules and ban them instead of punishing legitimate sellers
