Ebola scaremongering?

Day 7
cling filmed all the gaps in my window vents so the house is now airtight and I'm hoping bathroom cactus will generate enough oxygen to last me through this apocalypse.

They're not issuing any Haj visas to countries currently suffering from the Ebola outbreak. There's also massive security checking all the pilgrims coming in to the country. There was also the lingering threat of camel flu which kept them on their toes.
Lingering threat of camel toe... Woowzers! :D

Maybe if people let it burn out rather than interfering with locals who won't change their practices then the risk to the rest of the world would be even less. Just a thought.

Agreed. It's kind of cruel to let these people and tribes die out, but you can't force intervention on them when they don't want it, and exposing the world to a deadly virus for the sake of saving a few of these people is really not worth the risk.

It's a form of natural selection at work, when a member of a species practices unhealthy, (ie. evolutionary undesirable) acts they are eliminated from the gene pool. Individuals who are not of sound mind enough to heed the CDC warnings will become infected, this leaves behind a group of survivors that are either ebola resistant or have desirable psychological traits, ultimately leading to a stronger breeding group.

Kuru parallels this somewhat.

Easier, faster and cheaper to simply cover yourself in cling film, probably a subreddit for it too.

Exactly, by intervening we are actually increasing the risk for everyone including the people in Africa. Ebola only really poses an international risk when people create an environment where it is sustained for a duration of time in a population. This is exactly what we are doing. We are putting people at risk and increasing the chance of mutation for some numpties that are going to go out and start eating bats all over again. Or worse start breeding pigs and chickens.

If a case did hit the UK is it likely they would shut every thing down and tell people to stay at home?

Yep probably tell everyone to stay home unless essential to go out, and give out dust masks, rubber gloves and hand sanitzer to the public... as they slowly back up the steps to their private jets destined for Iceland.

Seriously though it might be prudent to stock up on groceries, bottled water and the like because as soon as a proper panic gets started on Facebook, Daily Mail, etc. the teco shelves will be stripped bare. In fact there could be a profit to be made soon. If you're going to panic, panic early.
