Edinburgh Meet March 2006

Thanks everyone on asking how I am :) Feeling OK again as of this morning (still felt pretty rough yesterday).

As for the next Scotland meet and where to have it..... well thats up to the meet organisers or everyone to vote and decide! We did before and I think Edinburgh came out top. Anyway, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen aren't the only places in Scotland :p Well I am happy to go anywhere (well as long as it isn't somewhere I don't like ;) ).

(Are there any pics on the FTP yet?)

Pubs in glasgow are a lot better in my opinion, and Oran Mor has to be seen to be believed. Club in a church, very classy but also rather expensive to get in.

Student rail card \o/ £5.90 return to Glasgow in a nice warm train. For £20 a year i can live with that :p

It certainly wasn't the words I was using as I sprung up the hill towards the castle. I think they were more along the lines of "Come on! Hurry up" ;)

Bah, having the choice of either casting spells or flying up the hill in your Ford Anglia are, quite frankly, unfair advantages!

Oh by the way, I've been busy using Napster to aquire albums from some of those artists mentioned over the weekend during conversations. So far:

Yellowcard - Aye... nice one.
Porcupine Tree - Och aye, these guys are good
Tool - not on napster :(
Mesuggah - not on napster :(
I.E.M - What was their full name? "I.E.M" isn't on Napster.
The Ataris - Okay.. not bad. Think I may need to listen to them longer.
Stone Temple Pilots - Pretty good, bit grungy/heavy for my usual tastes, but *shrug* I like 'em as a change from my other selections.
 
I'm surprised that Tool and Meshuggah aren't on Napster. I.E.M. stands for 'Incredible Expanding Mind****' but I'm not surprised that you didn't find any I.E.M. on Napster.

The lead singer/guitarist from Porcupine Tree is the same guy behind I.E.M. (and numerous other side projects), a chap called Steven Wilson and I'd highly recommend that you have a look at www.swhq.co.uk and see if any of his numerous side projects are available. Blackfield are well worth a listen - some awesome tracks on the album.

What PT stuff have you got? I'm guessing 'Deadwing' and 'In Absentia'? If you can, put Deadwing on, crank the amp up to 11 and put on 'Arriving Somewhere But Not Here'. You will not be dissapointed.
