..created a new thread just to discuss the EE announcement and not the sell off of the bandwith..

Just been reading through some of the bumf that has been sent through regarding the Everything Everywhere brand (EE) which will be rebranding all orange and t-mobile stores.

Looks like 16 cities will be getting 4G networks installed before Christmas then an upgrade to provide 98% coverage by the end of 2014.

Also looks like 4G services will not be available on Orange or T-Mobile but will have a new EE contract.

Personally I am very interested in this, because I think we all know that the iPhone 5 will have 4G, but, also concerned as I am on a T-Mobile F&F discount plan which I would loath to give up which would probably be the case.

Well Im hoping that we will get the Korean version of the Galaxcy S3 on the back of this (SHV-E210K/L/S) LTE 2gb ram and quad core. And not the gimped 4g US model with only a dual core

Coming to Bristol :D. Very interesting.

Left T-Mobile for Vodafone last time, just for a good deal, but T-Mobile had the best internet speeds of any provider I've been with. Will definitely be interested in returning to them/EE for 4G.

Orange can barely keep up with traffic now in big towns / cities so I'm not expecting 4G to start well.

I'll happily say I'm wrong if it's all good.

Hope they upgrade the 500Mb bundles as 40Mbps is 5Mb/second so you get just over a minute and a half before i have used my bundle lol.

Damn, a second thread

It will be 2040 before we here see 40 megabits

I'm grateful when I get 3! And that only happens on my 1bar of signal upstairs on 3 network. 0.8 megabits landline guy here

I'm really looking forward to this. Whilst i don't live in an area likely to get 4G soon. Everything Everywhere recon they will cover 98% of the UK by 2014 which is basically the same as their current 2G coverage.

What i want to know is how i will be dealing with my account. If the two companies are merging into one and i have to deal with EE customer services instead of Orange etc. I know the two networks are merging so both Orange and T-Mobile will slowly start seeing EE in the corner of the screen but what else does this change.
Also, am i going to pay more to have a iPhone plan capable of 4G? If i do then i likely won't get it.

I will ring Orange tonight to see what i can decipher.

They've already merged...

EE is just a rebrand to coincide with the 4G rollout. Find "Orange", replace with "EE". That'll most likely be the only change that affects you.

What i mean is that at the minute, T-Mobile and Orange (to the consumer at least) pretty much still operate as separate companies. Different websites, different price plans, different customer service departments etc. etc.

They'll continue to exist until everyone has moved across to EE or somewhere else. I also read somewhere that Orange contracts will be rejigged to allow a user to "make the most out of his/her phone" and the T-Mobile ones will be changed to accommodate budget conscious users. Can't find the source now!

It's going to take a while for all the information to come out.

What would be good to know is will 3G improve, ie, if we dont pay for 4G will we get a full speed 3G service wherever we get a signal :-/

Interesting times..

Why would 3G signal increase? If anything it's going to get worse. They are reducing there bandwidth and using the now spare bandwidth for 4g.
3G certainly won't increase.

Won't you piggyback onto the 4G network and be throttled to 3G speeds?

But then ok, I hadn't thought that all devices were compatible with 4G.

No 4g is totally different.

Actually thinking about it 3G will probably totaly unaffected. It's more than likely unused bandwidth being used. So 3G will be unaffected.
