EE - 4G

why would it be the case? I certainly hope not!

If they only launch 4G on an EE plan it's very doubtful we could move to it and keep the FF discount.

They have been trying to get rid of people on it for years by offering less than they did previously in upgrades and retention deals.

Why do so many people think 4G should wait until 3G has better coverage in their area? That's half the point of 4G that the coverage is so much better. It's not just the speed.

Very interesting news. Especially for people who live in rural areas. If BT dont get their act together and hurry up with the fiber optic roll out people will just just lose interest. Take me for example. I live in a semi rural area 15 miles outside of Cardiff. My broadband speed is 1400kbps and upload is 500kpbs. Yet my mobile phone can obtain speeds of 6000kbps and upload of 2330kbps.
Will we ever get to the stage of using only mobile networks for data? Thus no need for a BT landline rental!

I though it was about 30Mbs compared to about 6Mbs.. pretty damn fast! What Android phones out there support 4g?

30Mbps on average or always? Has be at least 10Mbps everywhere where there's 4G or it's a bit pointless.

I've seen 10Mbps+ on HSPA in a few area on Voda/Talkmobile.

What will people do on 4G speeds without truly unlimited data? Need a good 5GB min allowance.

Speed test by Engadget :

Formerly known as Everything Everywhere, also known as the union of Orange and T-Mobile's UK networks, it's now going under the name EE and (finally) bringing LTE to the British Isles in the coming weeks. We decided to see what that means by running Speed Test on the device -- and it's looking good. Upload speeds averaged around 20Mbps, while downloads peaked around 38Mbps -- consistently above 25Mbps

I just hope that they substantially increase the Download limit or its all going to be a bit pointless.

Will other carriers get it? Or is this only Orange/T-Mobile?

It'll be faster than my 2-3mbit home broadband that I have! And I live in London! :o

This is swaying me to get a phone that goes against a lot of what I want in a phone... the internet speeds would be mightily helpful. Come out sooner BB10 :(
