Egypt shark attack

but they don't have the same nightmare death scenarios
jelly-fish, mundanely just on Med, can be traumatic in provoking panic if you get stung, don't always see them coming, if you were surrounded with multiple stings be difficult not to flail

...

red sea boat fire obviously also putting Egyptian tourism & maritime safety standards in question.

Love sharks. Of course they are going to gobble up a person floundering around. Especially if they are hungry.

Really sad if it's true they stabbed the Shark to death. The Shark was hungry. The humans were out for revenge. :(

Gets a taste for human flesh it will stalk the location, the location is a tourists beach they cant let it live.

i adore the red sea and have dived there a few times.... 99% of the time you are safe, but nature is nature!. whilst i dont wish that on anyone the sad truth is we are far far more dangerous to sharks than they are to us and this kind of thing will likley lead to another big culling of what is becoming endangered.

I do not doubt i would feel different if it was someone i cared about who died... but it would not make me right.... imo we swim in places like the red sea at our own risks (and it is worth the risk for me.......... everything in life which is fun has some risk attached).
I was going to go night snorkelling last time i was there... its something i would love to do but the locals there practically begged me not to do it as the risks go up at night apparently.

the rubber necker in me is tempted to look for the video but i wont. last time i accidentally got exposed to a proper wrongun video it left me scarred for ages (i still think about it now 20 years later) (someone uploaded something disguised as a move torrent file)

Sy-fy channel's amazing Sharktopus? The military biologically morphs a giant jellyfish body and legs to the head of a shark. It walks on land (despite Cephalopods lacking bone lolz) and eats stuff. So bad it is good.

Nah it was the one Mike said after I googled it. I would have been 11 years old when it came out. Sharks in water is bad enough for a movie but ones that can walk on land is even worse!

I also watched Jaws for the first time dubbed in Polish while visiting my Grandfather. I ran home after with my cousin during a thunderstorm at about 11pm. I would jump over the pot holes filled with water because I thought Jaws would get me. I must have been 4 or 5 then.

I think those early years put me off the sea forever! I am a strong swimmer and have no problem swimming in lakes however.

Horrible way to go. I was never a fan of swimming in the sea, confirmed when in Antigua, standing at the end of a jetty looking down and there was Barracuda.

I remember when they showed footage of Sea World when an Orca snapped and turned on the performer killing them. It happened 3-4(?) times in the nineties.

not just the taste for humans, but sharks will stay where they have successfully hinted unless disturbed, and they can learn that the humans that they attacked were harmless and easy to catch. Other prey might require more energy to chase ot have some risk.

It would have been different it is was a single strike and the shark moved on but they successfully hunted so could easily attack again .

Sharks that specifically target humans are rare but some do make the connection yo easy food and have gone on to kill several more swimmers
