Eid Mubarak

....snip....

May I ask how old you are? Do you work? If these things truly concerned you then you would have taken it upon yourself to pay the dues etc.

Eid is not just about buying new things, I've not bought anything specifically for Eid in a long time, I just enjoy spending it with my family.

im 18 and about to go into uni next week.

i would take it upon my self, but it is sunnah to have new clothes for eid, to havea nice appearance. i was not to know that my mother would not give me fitrana, had i known, i would have spent less on my clothes and appreance.

obviusoly supporting youself in itekaaf is also money consumign for food, and donating to the mosque.

Could you explain these? :)

Of course i could, islam places the most importance on knowlege and giving it :)

sunnah - what the prophet muhammad (PBUH) said and did.

fitrana- is a charity to be paid before the eid prayer for those less fortunate who cannot afford new things for eid or food etc (mainly given tto moqsue whio distribute it, or to charites who can then use it)

itekaaf- this is spending the last 10 days inside the moqsue, of ramadaan. these 10 days are the 10 most important int he islamic year, and odd the nights of which, esp the 27th, are extremely important, and you should stay up all night praying, doing good deeds etc, as within one of these off nights (mainly pointing to the 27th) the angel Garbrial came down to muhammad (PBUH) and revealed to him the quran, and told him he was a prophet. WE do not go out of the mosque, and stay within gaining good deeds, as one of these night have more deeds in them than a thousand months of just praying. these nights are known as Laylat-ul-Qadr (the night of power)

The first revelation was the first five verses of Surah (chapter) Al-Alaq: "Iqra bismi rabbikalla dhi khalaq. Khalaqal insana min alaq. Iqra wa rabbukal akram. Alladhi 'allama bil qalam. 'Allamal insana malam ya’lam, " which means "Read in the name of your Lord who created, created man from a clot. Read, for your Lord is most Generous, Who teaches by means of the pen, teaches man what he does not know." (96: 1-5)

this shows one of the most important aspects of islam is knowlege.

when the muslim armies conqored other lands, they would have war prisoners, and would free them if they could teach 10 people how to read, as at that time paper was expensive and not many people could read.

it was said by thr prophet, who can travel to china, just to recive their knowlege should do so. and in those times, you could only travel by camel/horse.
