Electric Toothbrush

Who saiys that, nearly every dentist I have spoken too all say to use electric. Manual doesnt even come close.

Every dentist I've ever visited. Last one was in Mexico, the one before that in Spain, before that in greece, and before that my usual one in the UK. It's probably something to do with their training. Normally they say electric is better when people don't know how to brush their teeth properly with a manual brush.

I much prefer an electric brush though.

Utter rubbish, its funny how a Hygienist uses all electrical tooth brushes after descaling them. Their is physically no way to clean teeth as well as any electric brush can.

How can my experience be rubbish. All you can say is that you haven't experienced it.

I've never been to a hygienist that used than electric toothbrush on a patient. The ones I've visited use their standard dentistry tools or which an electric toothbrush wasn't one.

I meant utter rubbish, I know two dentists and they never would say that. Also a hygienist usually uses the metal headed tooth brush rotary at the end for final clean.

I hate to be a brand advocate but I've tried other brands and always go back to sonicare. That fairywill brush was a joke in comparison, granted probably better than a manual but it's like a hatchback compared to porsche.

Not had any issues since I went electric 20 odd years ago. Dentist said I had the teeth of a teenager (about the only positive I have going for me!) :)

Either you're BSing or you visit **** dentists.

Every dentist I've seen for the last 20 years has asked if I use an electric toothbrush. All of the hygienists have used electric tools.

Until recently... the hygienist I see isn't allowed to use the electric tools and is currently using manual tools. They're okay, she knows what she's doing. Not like her with electric though.

Actually most I've seen have been much better than the UK, especially the ones in Mexico.

I'm temped to go for the Curaprox Hypersonic. It's over priced, but I've had a few of the top Philips DiamondCleans before and enjoyed them, but they've been failing within two year. Hopefully the Curaprox will be better build quality.

My hygienists have always used power tools. I always thought they were air tools rather than electric though. Either way that has nothing to do with electric toothbrushes, which I'll add again, that I'm a big fan of.

P.S my last two hygienists have been fit as ..... too. ;)

My Philips Sonicare has packed up. The power button is jammed in due to the new design which has terrible ingress protection. Old had a good rubber jacket on the power button.

Sent in back to Philips just in time and within their 24 month warranty.

Any recommendations for replacement heads for Oral-b 8000 series? There's a few cheaper aftermarket options on the usual site but I thought I'd consult the Forum first. :)
Never seen anything good for the non branded ones, strangely Sainsbury's have sales on them a lot of the time.

Mine started playing up, it charges but it wouldn't vibrate so I set about taking the thing apart.

It was fairly easy.

Turns out the magnet had jammed close. Sorted it out and works like new.

If the battery goes in it, i'll just replace it with a rechargeable one. Happy days!

I got one as a Christmas present from my family from Oral-B, It looks cool but I think its just a waste of money as I really miss my old toothbrush but cant really change it as I don't want so seem ungrateful, I would never buy one for myself but I think everyone has a different opinion as my sis loves it and praises it every chance she gets

Never looked back once I got my Sonicare Diamondclean.
Top of the range at the time and snagged it for £100 or just under.

Wouldn’t spend £200 on a toothbrush personally but electric over a manual everyday.

If my sonicare fails on me I’m going to give Oral B a try.
Had issues with sonicare brushes, first was replaced under warranty and last one I just replaced via buying a new handle.

Since I already had several spare brush heads otherwise would have already done so.

The feeling of your teeth the first time you use an electric is beautiful

Had 3 Sonicare Diamondcleans two top of the range the other just below when they changed to the new models. All three failed.

I now have a Curaprox electric toothbrush. Honestly I thought the DiamondClean was superior in terms of the feeling and freshness. Just a shame they don't last. The former top of the range model is only £78 at the moment on Amazon though.

Used Oral-B for years then switched to a fairywill last year. Was just as good as the oral-b until recently when I noticed the power went way down after a few uses defeating the point of the long battery.

Opened a new oral-b 600 that's been in a box for years and I feel like it's better than the fairywill, it just feels like a better clean.
Don't think I understand all the fancy stuff that goes into toothbrush marketing these days. The 600 is old but...are the newer ones actually cleaning better?

I also use a fairywill water flosser daily which I feel helps quite abit.
