EMA

Yes, it just asks for proof of income.. So rather than sending off my dad's wage slip and my mum's, just my mum's.

But from reading previous posts it doesn't seem a good idea.

They can check if both your parents work.

Wish i got EMA, but i couldnt because of my dad :(.

Would be nice to have that extra £30 to go out with etc.

EMA should not be a cash handout in my opinion. I believe that EMA stands for Educational Maintainence Allowance, it should be handed out via book tokens and bus passes not cash.

People who earn the £30 a week EMA is going up to £50 a week next year, a statement was released at our college today. Shame I don't get it since I'm 19 :(

I'll try to find a source on the internet about it.

Dunno if the others are rising, I'll ask my tutor tomorrow since he handles all the money for our department.

Get ALG then.

No heard anything about it going up to £50.

One of the main purposes of EMA is to get chavs to go to college and get a job instead of living off tax payers all their life. It'd go to waste if vouchers were given

Mad_Jay just mentioned it, I'm speculative though, after posting I had a quick google and couldn't find anything, think it's bs..

I'm going off what I was told in Tutorial today, my tutor gets an email every Tutorial which he has to read out to the class.

In this email it said that the £30 a week EMA is rising to £50 a week next year.

Again I'll ask tomorrow for confirmation.

Would be good if it is going up :p

I'll ask my tutor on Wedneday.

I don't know who thinks of it, I honestly thought it would be scrapped after the first year. I got payed £120 a month to do what I was going to do anyway

If theres one topic that this forum will set on fire it's this.. a lot of people think EMA is bad..

Personally I was only entitled to £10.. it paid my Bus Fair, but at the same time I held a job down.. so really I very rarely needed it.

Get a ruddy part time job like the rest of us had to do before "EMA" was brought in. Why are my taxes going to bribe people to go into school??!?!!

God I sound old :D

Definitely.

In its current form it's nothing more than a bribe to "pay" people to go into 6th form.

I have a part-time job, which is half the reason I'm complaining because while I'm working the EMA'ers are spending their easily earnt cash.
