Me and my missus have just completed the paperwork applying for residence in New Zealand, been talking/planning it for what feels like ages and can't quite wrap my head around the fact we've finally done it! We have enough points to get automatically selected and we're hoping to be in New Zealand within 6-12 months :)

Anyone else going/thinking of going down the same track?

good luck, visited the south island in january and its a very beautiful country

the lifestyle is so relaxed out there

My brother emmigrated around 9 months ago and is loving every second of it :)

He said no matter how much he researched though he wasn't prepared for the extreme change of culture - not in a bad or difficult way i.e. change to japan - but he said there are so many unusual ways of life and traits over there compared to the UK. .. but half the fun is finding them out & experiencing them :)

Advice: grow to hate the Possum and you'll fit right in :p

Great to hear that, thanks :)

Ahh, this is for full residence, its not a holiday/working visa.

No

There's 3 resident visa

Single - One entry within 2 yrs or you loose it
Multiple - As many times in and out but must be there with 2 years
Indefinite - Doesn't matter when/how many

As far as I know there is only one option for the Skilled Migrant Category since it is based on your current experience and the skills shortage list. If we are accepted then we have 12 months to move to New Zealand. This is what we've been told by the NZ Immigration Service anyway!

My whole family moved out about 6 years ago, took them a long time to settle in. Once they moved from Auckland to Christchurch they started to really get into it.

Not cheap to move there at the moment, exchange rate wasn't pretty last time I looked.

really?

1.00 GBP = 2.53756 NZD at the moment

Yeah that's about as bad as its been in years.

When we moved out it was £1=$3.6NZ

Here's the last 10 years from XE.com:
