We've seen it before. Hamilton can make a strategy work because he can drive fast enough to do so. Bottas can't make the same strategy work, because he can't drive fast enough to do so.

Hopefully imola doesn't get added to the calendar again. Not a good track for overtaking.

Take aways are, Merecedes has the most car in the history of F1, but Lewis has shown enough talent for it not to taint his championships as it has done with Vettel.

Albon is absolutely finished in RB.
Stoll is still crap. Ocon is still poor.
Good race by Kvyat, would have nice to see where Gasley would have finished if not for a coolant leak.
Russell, shines in qualifying but still not points. I think he needs a season in a mid-field team before moving to a top team.
Dani Ric, who is apparently 'holding Renualt back', doing a good job.
Shame for Perez, good solid weekend from him again.
Ferrari showing they still a comedy act.

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood you. He would have needed to be 104 points ahead to have won at this race. He is 85 points ahead. Which by my reckoning means at the next race if Bottas wins and gets fastest lap then it goes to the next race; whereas if Bottas wins and doesn't get fastest lap, Hamilton only needs 2nd place. Other combinations are possible.

Bottas is on 197
Hamilton leads by 85.

So in theory, The most Hamilton needs to guarantee the championship is P2. Doesn't even need the fastest lap.

Not quite, if Bottas wins with fastest lap in the remaining 4 races, he'd finish on 301. P2 would put Lewis on 300.

:rolleyes: cheers captain obvious... my point was the risk isnt quite as high between these guys they are in a reasonably safe bubble, not risk free but certainly not like they are a bunch of randomers down the local high street. Not that it was ok to do. However, they are still for the most part pretty good with social distancing in the paddock, at least from what we see on the TV. Yes there are slipups caught on camera but I know other sports that are televised live with much more relaxed approach to the whole Covid thing.
