Energy drinks...

Have a Banana with some orange Juice, you'll get a more even energy boost without the crash.

potassium, sugar, vitamin c giving you more energy than caffeine? I highly doubt it.

If you're going to be using energy drinks to tide you through long shifts you'd be better off improving your diet with more complex-carbohydrate foods and less sugary crap that'll just cause you to crash after a few hours and mangle your intestines. If it's just occasionally then they're fine, but they'll do more harm than good if you're gonna take them as a long-term substitute for sleep.

Why do you think Tennis players eat bananas during a match and not downing Redbull ?

I'll wait for some sport science guy comes in for a more detailed explanation, I am confident I am right in this case :)

Energy from caffeine? Haha, go back to wikipedia and read what caffeine is. From your post, it seems that's where you educated yourself on the topic.

I understand what you're saying, it is a stimulant that affects the CNS allowing intense labour to seem less strenuous.

Is that Sarcasm ?

Not really...I mean caffeine doesn't actually GIVE you any energy..but it supplies it on demand..which is what this thread is really about as far as I understand it.

Personally, if I want serious energy for the next few hours then I eat good food and ingest caffeine.

If I want a steady supply of energy throughout the day then I don't touch caffeine or any drug...

Sleep and diet by far.

I use to feel like you a lot, especially after coming home from school and im involved in 4 different sport clubs and i could barely be botherd to do any sport during the week.

The best thing which works for me is sleep, you might not think so but honestly you really do notice it, maybe not so much during the morning and lunch time but your notice it especially around late afternoon time you dont feel as exhausted or anything, well i really noticed the difference after sleeping for 10 hours than say 5 or 6 hours.

Also try eating a good balanced diet, especially breakfast and drink lots of water, if your looking for a specific drink then i drink a lot of lucozade in the mornings for lunch and before playing sport, not the fizzy stuff but the orange juice type ones, much better than the vial red bull.
