I'm trying to get my mum off Economy 7, she has electric and everything else is gas. No idea why she's on ECO 7!

 :o
My mum was apprehensive too. Octopus make it easy tho, because you just enter both day and night rate, and then they sum up. This made the change almost invisible to her...

good work. that will save you a bunch of cash!. Octopus are funny with OG. I was on OG and OG Faster for a few years without them ever asking about my EV (that i didnt have) where as others were asked to send proof of ownership / rental agreements before they could be switched. (infact when i signed up i dont think it was even in the terms you had to have an EV!)

naaaah AFAIK once you are on you are on, if there are any changes to the policy you may have to manually "re-up" as it were to stay on it (and if so Octopus will contact you with plenty of time to do this) but other than that you should be sorted now you are in.

What's the best price for a higher (but not mega high) energy use house where energy is fairly evenly used through the day?
Low/no use at night.
Energy used 9am - midnight fairly consistently

I'm out of the loop by my amazing tariff ends in a couple of months

I just went with Octopus Tracker and it hasn't been too painful.

I'm guessing it's the standing charge that's the big change?

Any average numbers available over a typical month?
There is a website that tracks it. IIRC it is about 17p atm, which broadly matches what I get with my heavy night use on the Intelligent tariff.

Edit: just re-did my maths on mine. I am paying £0.211p a kWh over last 355 days. 43% of my usage is at night. If I didn't do intelligent, at the newest rate (so basic maths, not accurate), I'd be £157 worse off.

Thanks all.

The price is by hour on that.
Is it that accurate? Ie can I run the tumble dryer at a low hourly rate??

Because that would be great.
Put your area in here for an idea.

That’s very much the idea with octopus’ smart tariffs.

We do the washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher and car in the time bracket.

The only high draw items we can’t offset into the cheap rate are for cooking - which is where a battery would come in, but they are quite pricey at the moment and would take many years to pay for themselves with the savings charging the battery overnight.

There are also referral codes out there for £50 credit if you do switch to take advantage.

Great.

I'll need a working smart meter.

We have an electric 10kwh shower but I can take a shower any time of the day. Same with washing etc.

What would be ideal is some sort of app to tell me each day the cheapest hour!

Oven is gas here, but often use airfryer
