Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

Quick phone call this morning and I'm on 12m fixed @ 6.04p/kWh. Standing charge 29.86p/day.
I just called and my Flexible had me at 6.24p per KW. Standing charge is 28.71p a day. Moving to fixed with no exit fee has me at 5.83p per KW and no change to the standing charge. Zero sense made from that but I'll take it.

I'd go out and stroke my heat pump, battery and solar panels but 1. that would be wierd (even for OCUK), 2. its outside and 3. I'd need to get the ladder out for the solar and that would be really weird.
I was looking in to this but I use that little gas over all due to how the home is set up that it just wasn't financially viable to do so.

I would however if you have solar and want room by room heating (such as an office during the day when its just you home) to get the Glass faced, wall mounted infrared wall panels. Around 200-250w trickling out off of the solar, keeps the rooms nice and warm and they're only a couple of hundred quid. It does require a well insulated home and a body in that room to really benefit but its hardly much of a cost for the 90 days a year its on instead of the heating.

The government grant paid for most of mine and it was replacing a 20 year old non-condensing boiler. It was £3.6k including ~9 radiator changes - bargain IMO.

We would normally have multiple people at home most days per week and most of the ground floor set up as open plan (ish).

In any case the heat pump ticks over at 400w to do the whole house at current temperatures which is far better for general comfort and you don’t freeze your under crackers off when you want to take a break from your desk for lunch etc.

£3.6k all in you really cant fault can you!

My office has a coffee machine with grinder, milker etc, there is a fridge, a cool cupboard, snack basket, water dispenser, wine rack, spirits shelf and beers sections. Most importantly I have locks on the door to keep everyone and everything else out! The only time I need venture out at the moment is for the loo. :D

Fixed at this until September 2026:

Early days yet, but so far not regretting locking in :)
With the early exit fee being £125 per fuel type, it's unlikely I'll be cancelling even if I later have reason to regret fixing.

Currently with tomato energy. Pretty good pricing. Average unit rate is just under 11p/kwh.

Fixed till July next year so will see what I can afterwards.

I switched to them earlier this year and initially was a nightmare. It got to a point where I hadn’t been billed for over 2 months and had to actually chase them up to send me a bill.

I think the must have got a bit overwhelmed with new customers and all of their processes and systems were not ready.

Thankfully, it’s a lot better and have been getting billed consistently the last couple of months.
