If you don't have smart meters, get them installed soon. Their regular readings are one of the good things about them, as these can help stop you falling into debt because you're always seeing regular bills which are accurate - providing the smart meters work, of course!im in debt over 4k with octopus absolute joke the prices.
How!?im in debt over 4k with octopus absolute joke the prices.
Prices are set by the market. Octopus have always seemed competitive from what I see. £4k debt suggests you have not being paying your bill for about 2 years (assuming its domestic). Perhaps you should shelve buying that £250 watch you were looking at Anyway I hope you are recovering from your bike fall.im in debt over 4k with octopus absolute joke the prices.
Is tracker still a viable option or everyone is now switching from tracker?
Fixed with Scottish Power as they offered me £100 to move to fixed from variable. Can swap back to variable at any point so free £100. They are really pushing me for a smart meter but so far held them off. No way I’m giving up my economy 7 meter being the wrong way, 4 years now since I told them about it and they said I was wrong

They can only come after me for the last 12 months anyway. At some point I will have to get a smart meter but for now I’ll just leave it alone. You might want to consider getting it swapped - call it cashing out - as once they have done the swap there will be no way of correcting their error and coming after you for the difference…
Looks like a 1% rise in Jan.
Energy prices forecast to rise again in January https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cly2xdyexkdo
That is what I had hoped for, for the prices to return to pre-Autumn 2024 price rises. They might not fall down as far, but hopefully it'll still be cheaper than locking into a more costly tariff for 12 months.Further ahead, Cornwall Insight anticipates the energy price cap will drop slightly in April 2025 and again in October 2025.
Fixing before the most recent price rise was the play, for gas at least its worked out pretty well this year. No exit fees with Octopus made it a no brainer. That is what I had hoped for, for the prices to return to pre-Autumn 2024 price rises.
