Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

Yes EON seem to have some good deals ... compared octopus 12mth fixed with them, which my relations are using, over xmas break ,
and the standing charge for electricity wasn'te:was 50p rather 30p like for gas, and unit prices similar, we had free electricity units too for 25/26/27 for cooking the turkey, boiling kettles etc.

It’s definitely a good deal with a massive off peak savings, just wish they’d hurry up as I’m stuck on their standard tariff until then!

Thinking about this one don't see many people mentioning it.
Peek time's 15.33p (6:30 to 10:30 and 16:30 to 21:30)
Then 24.27 for the rest which isn't too bad.
Could be good for those without solar, ev etc who can't take advantage of the cheap night rate options.
My general electric usage is mostly after 5pm (cooking)so contemplating

A few of us have looked at Tomato and seen flags we consider as red.
Check companies house and Ofgem in regards Tomato would be my suggestion.
Your probably covered but they seem to be a bunch of wideboys and if they go pop (which is my guess) they will end up having you moved to another supplier without choice onto a standard tariff.

You would like to think Ofgem are watching them and will act if there is a risk they will go bust. But maybe they didn't learn from the past..

Indeed. And I think they are, since I mention Ofgem above as there is a notice on there in regards Tomato.

They are one to watch IMO, they may make good, but they feel iffy to me based on what I said above.

There is little direct risk to consumers, the main risk being you end up on a slow transfer on a crappy standard tariff which negates any benefit you may have previously achieved, and some.

I have little conviction that Ofgem are competent TBH.

Octopus December 2024 Tracker is online on the website.
Standing charges the same but unit rates are slightly cheaper than October tariff funnily enough.

My tracker has come up for renewal now - big jump in standing charges though :o

Electricity was 48p/day, now 62.2p/day. Gas less so, was 28p/day, up to 29.3p/day. Is the tracker now called Flexible Octopus? It's a bit confusing as it's giving me a projected annual spend and saying that "Flexible Octopus prices follow wholesale costs and update every 3 months." but tracker was changing daily? Is this is the same thing or not?

EDIT: It isn't the same thing. The renewal email is a bit confusing and the going to change my tariff from the website doesn't show tracker at all. Clicking the two separate links in the email looks to be the only way to renew on December tracker. I can imagine a lot of people ending up on Flexible Octopus instead of Tracker...

Yea, Flexible Octopus is just their SVR tariff.
