It's a fixed rate. With significant further increases expected it's unsurpising prices are higher than the 1 April cap.

On a variable tariff you're unfortunately going to be paying a lot more from 1 April than you are now.

There's going to be some sweating shivering going on if things continue the way they are going.

FTFY!

It's quite concerning what's going to happen come October. While we can absorb the ~120% increase coming next month, a similar increase in October is going to go from "well there goes this year's holiday" to "well there goes this year's dinner".

All our bulbs are LED, we have a 2 year old A rated boiler, double-glazing throughout. Not sure what else we can do to reduce our usage at the moment other than sit in the dark with the heating off... OK maybe not quite so bad as that, but still...

Considering emptying the loft and putting an extra 200mm of insulation down - should maybe save us £15-20/month? But need to figure out how to raise the floor so we can use the storage space still :/

Probably means the people over the street will be using their wood burner even more than they have been, joys of particulate pollution and the whole place smelling of smoke if we leave a window open a crack for ventilation. And won't even think about hanging the laundry outside in a dry day if the wind is coming in our direction.

Finally unblocked the chimney, will be using wood fire from now on. Plenty of trees in the park...
It's you isn't it, you live on my street! quite a coincidence.

But seriously, if you must burn solid fuel anywhere near anyone else then please dry the wood out properly first and get a proper modern burner so it produces less pollution.

Mine was 1 yrs fixed 35p a therm, and that 2 months ago before the hike announcement, so no point doing it...paying 20p at mo, now up to 27 and prob 35 in oct. so where's the benefit paying 35p straight off the bat. The only point in fixing is if you can get a longer term 5yrs fixed really, and they never appear until mkt cr*ps out and they then offer the fixed at the highest rates.

theres no point in fixing atm, gas prices fall eventually, couple of yrs max, even though the war be over sanctions will be in place and eu will find alternatives, or we all be extra toasty after ww3 if it happens

Going ahead with this £200 discount in October will have negative impacts as you'll automatically get £40 added to next years bill even when the price rises.
