Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

Ouch

Other half hammered the tumble last night, probably 4-5 hours. Cant say exactly how much extra electric it used but was in the region of 7-8 units (based on previous few days)

Need to see if its got a delay on it. Might be too noisy to have it switch on at 0:30 though

Need to see if I can switch the beeps off on the dishwasher, its fine since its well fitted so pretty darn quiet but the three beeps over 1 minute at cycle end are damn loud in the middle of the night!
our old condenser used an eye watering amount of power. not to mention it was crap and didn't condense well so had bad condensation. new heat pump unit uses less than half the energy.... but OTOH a full towel load takes over 4 hrs.

Our washing machine and tumble dryer seem to be on constantly.

Had the wading out in the garden today as it's been glorious.

Been having the log burner on more with the heating still off and as going to bed, chucking another log on and putting a maiden full of clothes Infront, they dry very nicely

I got £66 credit to my bank account today but my EDF showed £66 credit perhaps that's just for paper trail purposes and they haven't actually added that £66 to my account. I'm not sure but in any case a nice start to the day lol

Very confused.

I'm trying to work out where the 66 has gone in my Scottish Power account.

On Friday it said "refund pending"
Now nothing.
I think its been applied to my balance. Although it was meant to go to our bank accounts.

There's no entry in the transaction log of it. But I think my balance is higher than it would be.

Anyone else on DD with Scottish Power?

Same
Billing section got a -66 pending entry and total debit increased to 405. Then the entry was gone and debit total is back to 339.

Weird. I expected a refund to hit today maybe.
If it goes into balance I'm going to have to request yet another refund as my DD is set ignoring the 400

Despite EONNEXT claiming nobody on a fixed rate would pay over the odds my latest bill tells me I would save money by moving to the SVR (next flex) - will definitely be ditching them once this is over.. my DD is also based on the original October price cap less the £66 and not the EPG less £66 and I bet I have fun trying to get them to sort that out..

Eonnext are very good at adjusting your DD. I had it sorted over Facebook messenger in minutes. Moved from£300 odd to £175 with no qualms.

I’m sure it will all work out in the wash, the energy companies are literally flying by the seat of their pants at the moment because of all the frankly last minute 11th hour announcements from the government.

Give them a break and the opportunity to sort this government created mess out. They are the last people you should be taking your frustrations out on at the moment.

How many millions of customers do they have across domestic and business energy?

Octopus have just lowered the DD payment we were paying by £67 for the next 6 months. Seems simple enough for now though I guess with the usage going up over winter things will get a bit complicated, but we are £200 in credit and have reduced usage by loads this year compared to last so its hard to workout what we might use from Nov to Feb so just sticking with this low DD payment for a couple of months and see what the usage is come end of December before deciding to put DD up a bit.
Hopefully with the credit we have and the £67 help currently just under what we use now a month it might all level out come April time.

Exactly - meaning people with a Smart Meter will be able save more than those that don't have one, by using energy when it's cheaper.
These people who think Smart Meters are only there to track people's lives, will be stuck on average, higher cost billing.

Yep, I love my smart meter. It's easily one of the best bit of tech I have that enables me to save a fortune.

Wish they’d hurry up and upgrade the dumb meters. I’d love to have a smart meter and IHD and I’d be happy to pay for it!

Are there any gizmos that I can use as an IHD with a dumb gen 1 meter? I used to have something that wrapped round the incoming big cable but not sure if that was accurate…

I think you have to request an upgrade, not heard of any rollout without customer requesting first.

They are meant to be upgrading the entire gen 1 network. Seemingly they can do this remotely but it’s taking an age. Still blaming covid….

Well this is fun so far. -66 noted on OVO account statement. Refund turned up in my bank account so I promptly sent it back to OVO so it’s now showing +66 a few days after it was sent to me. Gotta do this every month it seems - shame they can’t just keep it and apply to the account!?

Now £288 in credit and total bill for September was £88. DD is £125 and they are still suggesting (but no longer pushing after my complaint) that it is raised to £232 a month

Sturgeon's comment about the oil revenue financing the independent Scotland for a few years , I don't know if Truss has incorporated that eventuality in the divorce plans.
(we need to become independent because you're a US senator of the cost of living crisis - she's a bit more eloquent than Truss, can see why Truss is afraid to speak to her)
