Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

How long has it been since you requested the credit be paid back? If they don't pay it within 14 days they have pay you a £30 penalty.

Last time I switched supplier and they were slow in both refunding me credit and switching me (held up the process), an email reminding them of the the statutory penalties they now had to pay quickly got me the refund plus the added penalty payments :).

Edit:

My mistake, this may only apply to closed accounts with switching unless someone knows different :(.

My earlier post #17168 links to energy consumer's rights in regard to credit refunds. This was the link:

Still waiting for my refund from Scottish Power, currently have a credit of £330 on the account.

Well they're quick enough to have my phone virtually on fire with demands for payment and requests I call them to make alternative arrangements to pay, despite me sending a cheque that will arrive well within their 14 day statutory payment window.

Bah I should have chased octopus about switching to the gas tracker. I asked them a couple of months ago but they never replied.

Winning! Very happy I managed to switch to the tracker back in July, Agile has been good the last few weeks for electricity too. There's been a couple in nights where the price has gone negative. Alexa smart plugs turned on a couple of oil filled rads and the washing machine over night and I've been paid for using them :D

The real question is when are the councils going to turn off street lights?
In about 2009, when the Conservatives got in just in time for our recession, I can remember the councils cutting back on street lighting. I think after a certain time (midnight?) the lights would go out, followed closely by the local scum looking to take advantage of the poor lighting situation. Now they have almost entirely replaced the lights with LED lights, the savings of doing the same thing again will probably be negligible - even if LED street lights are gash.

This would be a great price if it was cold and heating was required, but it's not, hence why it's cheap.

What is the Tracker price likely to be in January, when it's minus 5 and demand is so high they are restricting supplies ! -> Probably at the capped price of 22p (gas).
Which means you'll be paying double what everyone else is, when you need it most

I've asked octopus about it and they say without altering your use it won't actually save you anything overall it could actually cost more than the standard tarrif.
If your able to alter usually patterns you can make a saving.

my account with shell is currently £400+ in credit and shell keep putting my direct debit up. they have increased it from £160 to £303 and wont let me put it down any further than £272. its ridiculous!

16p cap here, which is cheaper than the predicted January price cap, and significantly cheaper than April's prediction!

Despite the advice I recieved in here about discounts for direct debit payments, (for which I am grateful), it's this sort of post of yours above that's makes me very loathe to change from payment on receipt of bill.

OK, it costs me some extra, but short of stopping a direct debit the payer has limited control and the payee has more control, as above, than I am comfortable with. I am not having a third party build up credit from me at their own whim. In fact I don't want them holding a penny more than I owe at any moment in time :)

Just got our SMETS2 meters fitted. Gas hasn’t connected to the IHD yet but I’ve got electric monitoring. Looks like our base load is about 38W with everything on. Hoping the fridge freezer cycles soon so I can see that impact, but 38W base load is powering VM Hub 4, 2 mesh Wi-Fi APs, a little network switch, the IHD itself, plus the clock/displays on the oven and boiler.

That’s a decent base load right?
