Energy Suppliers

Man, you guys weren't kidding about energy being expensive. My fixed rate plan comes to an end in about 6 weeks so started looking around to get an idea. Seems i'm looking at around a 15% increase (£105 -> £120) from my current plan (Ovo Better Energy Feb 20)

At the moment i'm on 22.2p Standing Charge for both fuels and then 12.50p for electricity and 2.04p for Gas.

I think i just got lucky and locked in at the right time!

Doing an energy comparison tonight.
Not sure to stick with green. Everything seems more expensive despite the price rise

Edit. Looks like green are still cheapest!

For the first time ever I actually stuck with a company. Did a comparison and the savings were so small I just stuck with a new term on Octopus. Prices have risen but I’ll just have to take it. If they drop again I can review the market as no leaving charged for Octopus.
 
For anyone on green they have a 10 percent extra if you top up offer on today (I assume everyone has it) going to chuck a couple of hundred in there
 
Was anyone here with Yorkshire Energy when they went into administration and are now in the process of being moved to Scottish Gas? I have previous issues with SG and I'm now some 6 weeks into the automatic 'switch.
 
can you try out their agile variable trarif, for a month or so, if you already have their smart meter ?
I'm doubtful my peak 4-7pm use is low enough to justify it, but maybe I'd be wrong.

I would have tried it but still don’t have a smart meter. Been with them 12 months and requested one 3 times but no luck. I’ll be trying again and ringing them this week.
 
Just in case anyone is with these guys, Green Network Energy and Simplicity Energy have gone to the wall yesterday and have ceased trading.

Looks like my (not so) smart gas meter has hasn't been working since November.

I'm with Octopus, emailed them (no chance of getting through on the phone) with pictures and now waiting for the meter to be fixed.

Will they use historical billing to work out what the usage should have been?

They can yes, but I think you still have to agree to the figure so work out yourself now so you have an idea.
 
Just topped up my green account with a couple of hundred, couldn't say no to 10%

Noticed that my deal is coming to end in March. (10.979p/kWh) So thought I would look what deals are out there. Damn the prices have shot up. Hopefully there will be some better deals soon.
 
I got this top up offer from Green as well but haven't taken part in it. I hope it's not a fund raising exercise to stay afloat as giving everyone who participates a 10% bonus seems too good to be true.

Was it green that were just on martin lewis reporting that they had gone bust? I think the government will under-wright any customers balances though so you get that with whoever the new company is.
 
Green. And Green network energy are two different companies. I think there is even a third with green in it’s name.

Green. Are still going aren’t they?
