Energy Suppliers

Could damage the economy quite a bit this.

If people's bills are going up 30 to 50 percent the first thing to go is luxuries.

These aren't the usual 50 quid a year rises. They are hundreds.

I think my projection is 1200per yer to 1700.
Right before winter.

Ouch. 500.

Hot tub certainly will not be going on again.

I think the Fit payments were the only incentive, unless you did the scheme where you rented your roof out. But I think that's dead now, as are Fit payments.

I guess mines going up approx £250 a year

What other options do I have?
I was already having hard time before now with the price increases Im going to really struggle with things.

What are your thoughts on Variable vs Fixed at this point in time?

Has anyone used any of the following if so what are they like

Avro Energy
igloo
Ebico

any referral code for these?

I’ve trusted you over a code for Igloo I switched to them 4 months ago now, they’re okay, I had a query they answered it, no nasty surprises so far

Has anyone used Octopus Tracker or Agile Octopus

Thanks, I'm not 100% which I'm going to with igloo, ebico or octopus if I go for variable or Avro Energy fixed

I'm a little hesitant of going for a variable rate but I don't think it will go up in a few months but you never know, prices have gone up twice this year so far.

I fixed early this year so not look forward to that ending in early 2022. That said I would fix now if you can as is it likely to fall in near future?

I fixed with octopus at the time and I like their 0 cost to leave so even if prices fall you can always switch again. I actually fixed back with them on a 2nd term which is a first for me! Always used to change yearly but they have been good.

Load of referrals on here for them too including me so you can guarantee a £50 credit on your account at least.

Thanks, I have ive been with octopus in the past and my brother is still with them and he seems to be saving more than I am. even with a high unit price.

Im with green at the moment and was meant to save £350 with them, at the time of the last price increase I was going to switch but I was still saving £150 even with the price increase so I stayed but I'm regretting it now.

I have considered going back but the price is not very good at this time https://prnt.sc/1quaw5i
I could go back and we could both get £50 each. but when you compare it with variable it's around £350 more for fixed and £100 on variable so I can't seem to make my mind up on what to do.

(I would fix now if you can as is it likely to fall in near future?)
Do you mean the price will fall or won't fall?

I have a few options to switch to but all are variable.
igloo
Ebico (Supplied by octopus) About £350 cheaper on paper than Octopus fixed and £100 cheaper thank flex
Avro Energy is £200 cheaper but I think may have issues with them dues to the support.

also came acros outfox on another comparison site good unit rate https://prnt.sc/1quc3ar
but a 30p standard charge and £60 exit fee

The only question for variable vs fixed is the "do I want to know my spend". Prices may go up and down but I prefer fixing so I know what it is for a time. With Octopus I also have the option to change so if it drops drastically then I can move to a better deal elsewhere without an exit fee. I am not aware of anyone else offering fixed pricing with no exit fees for a mid contract move.

Got the email from Green, I'm on Oak tariff. I estimate an annual increase over £300.

Unit rate going from 15.39p/kWh to 20.67
Standing charge from 15p/day to 24.11

Looking at fixed deals this time and Neon Reef seem to be the cheapest at the moment.

I've only just switched from People's energy to PFP energy and went onto a variable as it was cheapest when I last ran comparisons back a couple of months ago. My current tariff is as below in south east England. I haven't had any correspondence suggesting the price is about to change but suspect it is inevitable. I think the below rates are - or at least were - unbeatable in my area.

EDIT: Prices now include VAT.

Elec
Unit rate: 14.17p KW/H
Standing charge: 23.04p per day

Gas
Unit rate: 3.82p KW/H
Standing charge: 23.04p per day

Just out of interest what are people paying a month for electric. I've averaged £55 last two months which to me is a lot.
Anywhere from £120 - £170 combined for the month depending on time of year. Usually 70% of that is elec. We are a large household with higher than average electronics use. (Boys with gaming PCs and consoles, lots of TVs and tech etc). At the peak of winter going forward we could be looking at some bills going over £200 easily.

Thinking of doing the 2024 lock in with British gas. Normally I wouldn't as it has an exit fee. But it's 100 pounds. Which isn't too bad.

Just gonna have a look and see if this is a spike due to covid or the new norm

Seem to have
Crazy. Looks like British gas is the cheapest! That's never happened before
I'm on the variable tariff with British gas and they are still the cheapest. Looked at a few comparison sites last month and British gas were still competitive with my usage plus all the other companies have flaky customer reviews.

I hate figuring out all these prices etc. Just got renewal details from E.On. Anyone know who is best to go with that won't have a 1st October price hike?

Renewal offer. Switch to Fix Online v47
Switch
Supplier E.ON (E.ON Energy Solutions Ltd)
Tariff name Fix Online v47
Tariff type Fixed Price
Payment method Fixed monthly Direct Debit
Unit rate Electricity 20.694p per kWh
Gas 3.845p per kWh
Standing charge 17.187p per day
19.273p per day
Tariff ends on 18 October 2022
Price guaranteed until 18 October 2022
Exit fees (these don't apply in the last 49 days) £30.00 per fuel
Discounts and other charges Not applicable
Extra products or services included Not applicable

The cheapest fixed for me is Outfox Fix’d 12m Apr21 v2 but you have £60 exit fee
1st Avro Energy Simple and Surge12M https://prnt.sc/1qvxoqu
Difference of £100 between Avro and eon
2nd place is Eon Next Online v7 / Sainsbury's Energy 1 Year Fix and Reward v19 https://prnt.sc/1qvxzmx Im assuming Sainsbury's use Eon
3rd is Eon Climate Positive v5
4th is SSE Online Smart Saver v2 / Fix and Fibre v4 Paperless Billing
the difference in price for me between the 1st and last is about £150,
if used out of the 4, is Eon

The cheapest Variable for me is
1st. Ebico Standard April 2021 v1 https://prnt.sc/1qvy49s Uses Octopus for everything (so really the same thing)
2nd Igloo Energy Pioneer https://prnt.sc/1qvy9rh
3rd Avro Simple uFlexi
4rth Uw Double Gold
5th PFP Simple Clear Paperless

Then it would be Avro Energy Simple and Surge12M fixed
Difference of about £80 so not a lot and £180 between 2nd place eon

Does Avro offer referral links, if so does anyone have one?
also is my choice correct ?

I would want to know how much im paying fixed but it all depends on how much of a difference it is between the fixed and variable
