Energy Suppliers

Wow.
Just had email.
My unit price is going from 15 to 21p per kwh for electricity.

Worst part. No one else seems cheaper than 21p!

Like 33 percent rise

I think all energy suppliers are hiking the price. My current tariff went up but it is still the cheapest as per uswitch because all other suppliers are also hiking theirs.

For any of those old GNE (Green Network Energy) customers that were moved to EDF, they should double check that the tariff they were given at the beginning of their contract is the same one that GNE told EDF they were on, especially if they cancelled their Direct Debit after GNE went into Administration.

There was quite a bit of difference in tariff cost for me and I'm presently going through the complaint system before taking my issues to the regulator.

Mine was actually cheaper than GNE. I was on the GNE v3 tariff.

Yikes just had the inevitable email from green. Electric up 37%, gas up 49%, standing charges up 2p and 4p respectively. That’s the biggest increase I’ve ever seen, madness.

Needless to say it’s time to move tonight, only been with them a month.

I'm with green. Everyone else seems more expensive even with the rise

It's gonna really push the poor this. Its a big big increase.
Never seen anything like it

I've just signed upto Octopus from British Gas. The latter and their bills was just a mess of figures and made tracking monthly usage impossible. For our small 2 bedroom flat it should be interesting to see what our usage is now that things will be more clearer.

Mine was 13.6p for elec, now going to 19.19p with a new EDF tariff.
You weren't wrong. Just got my 'choose a new tariff' email. The prices have nearly doubled in some cases!
Current tariff after moving from GNE up to 01/10 is 13.15p per kWh for electricity. The new tariff they're recommending is fixed until 2024 but they want 19.23p per kWh which is a near 50% increase! Gas is nearly double, 2.302p per kWh up to 3.797p. Daily Standing charge on electric is from 19.36p for E and 17.04p for G up to 20.67p for E and 19.82p for G. Will be moving on I feel, but no doubt prices are up across the board, EDF are saying my new combined DD will be up from £55pm to £99pm!

I couldn't find anything to beat EDF, so just went with their tariff.
Then after I signed up, my mate sends me a £50 each promo code, lol. Though as a current customer, doubt it would have worked.

I’ve just gone with Octopus with a referral code from here, £92pm which is still shocking. As someone has said above rises like this will push some into heating or eating. £100 is a lot of money to some people, £100pm month is a major drain for many families and the elderly.

Im in the same boat as all of you, Ive been thinking of changing for a few months but my price has been at least £150 cheaper than other suppliers so if been delaying thinking it is still the best and has not gone up.

I've just had my email
https://prnt.sc/1qtosny

Now the prices are £100 more than before, and my price has not been updated on the comparison sites so I'm having to do it manually.

I did notice most prices are variable

Those standing charge increases are so high they should be against the law.

Im struggling to get my head around a few things so I have few questions if anyone could help me.

Should I stick with variable or go with fixed this time?
I don't how many times they can up the prices but I'm having 2nd thoughts about going for variable this time?
has anyone used Avro Energy and are they any good?
they are the cheapest fixed-rate provider for me but I have a few options for variable https://prnt.sc/1qtqdhw

I know, I don't know they can increase the price by so much but I think its because of the ofgen announcement.

Yes, it's a big increase and as you say, will definitely put a lot of people in a bad position and the costs will just keep rising over the years. Lucky our solar panels will suck up some of the rise. Shame the FIT payment doesn't get the same rise as they've all put up their prices.

The best variable for me is igloo
Unit rates
Gas - All kWh 3.103p Electric - All kWh 17.169p
Standing charge Gas 26.600p per day Electricity 23.320p per day

or Octopus
Unit rates All kWh 3.234p All kWh 18.218p
Standing charge 23.846p per day 26.817p per day

I've been thinking of going green for some time but the upfront cost has been putting me off, any tips you could share or know of any grants or incentives?

Where there any I can't remember seeing any in my area in the last 6 years
The Fit payments ended in 2019, these paid 50% of your assumed generation whether you used it or not, it's now SEG, so you need a smart meter so they can pay you for what you put back in to the grid (5.5p/kwh is the best price currently)

I was quoted 4995 for a 4.2kwh system over two elevations from contact-solar.
