The thing is, it looks a large increase but that's only because it was significantly lower than everyone else. It's about average.
With the new unit rates, Pureplanet is going to cost me an additional £10 a month for my Gas and Electric.I got an email from Pure Planet yesterday. Their prices are going up 15th Jan 2019. Have done the maths and still the cheapest or at least a touch cheaper on Gas than Outfox although very close on electricity
Pure Planet
Elec 13.388p /KWh
Gas 3.171p /kWh
~27p/day for each standing charge (PP do this as a £8.50/month/utility Members Fee)
Outfox
Elec 13.39p /kWh
Gas 4.19p /kWh
28p/day for each standing charge
Let me know if the difference (& being green) is enough for you to want a £25 Amazon referral code trusting.
Yes I've heard (MSE weekly email) that BG is actually for once quite competative and £79 sounds reasonable with the cover. Is the £79 based on an estimate or for example on your last years overall consumption kwh for gas/electric?

14p on the one I've just switched to.Fair enough, it's just annoying it's gone up twice since I've been with them. I just had a look at British Gas and they are nearly 18p for electric so I guess I will have to suck it up!

I'm thinking of switching from Scottish Power to Octopus. Can anyone give me refferal, please? Thanks
How did you calculate your gas 6800kwh a year is fairly low. We only have heating and hot water on had and that's about 10,000 - 12,000kwh a year.I am quite confused by my EDF statement.
It calculated I used 2000kWh per annum Electric, and 18000kWh Gas.
The thing is, my calculations are 2000kWh Electric, but 6800kWh Gas. We had a smart meter fitted May-time, so clearly that has messed everything up. They are now quoting me against this mythical 18000kWh figure for gas.
Currently on Online Jan 19 (paying around 12.6p Electric and 2.4p Gas) so the next change is going to really hurt as all costs have risen.

The whole Spark (and others), is why I tend to switch between the big providers.
