Energy Suppliers

Hmmmm so whats going on here then?
As said I am pre payment meters so they dont have any bank details and no way to pay me the £50?.

NM read this and yes they use it to pay the pre payment customers

https://community.bulb.co.uk/t/it-says-they-will-send-50-via-their-partners-transferwise/49188/2

I've had a read, looks legit and guess it makes sense. With pre-pay you have to take a key to a shop and then they put credit on right? In that case, it's not like post-pay where they can just credit your account. I know it's already been said but if you ever are in a position to move to post-pay you'd save a fortune with your kind of usage.

Had an email from MSE saying I'm paying too much with Bulb, their comparison is saying Outfox the Market is cheapest for renewable energy (as I want to stay green!) but their customer service is rated poor - is anyone else with them and can let me know what they're like?

I was with them.

Yes customer service is poor however why would you ever need to contact them?

I joined. Sent readings. Paid bills then left.

All okay.

Any time I emailed them they took weeks to respond.

You've contradicted yourself in that post? "Why would you ever need to contact them" and "Any time I emailed them they took weeks to respond"

I emailed them to ask about an issue I had with joining them.

For some reason it took longer than expected because my old supplier hadn't updated the main central database.

So it was unusual for me to need to contact them.

My current supplier I have never contacted ever.

Ah ok, so who are you with now?

People's energy

They make you a shareholder when you become a customer.

If they make a profit they repay 75% of the profit to you the customer.

They aren't on comparison sites and their prices are very low.
If they make a loss and go under, do they take 100% of the money they have of yours in their account? :p

I agree I shall look into moving from pre payment at some point.
thanks for all the info and comments appriciate it a lot.

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL :)

Was in the process of switching to So Energy and they have just released a new tariff which is lower than the one I was switching to. One quick Facebook message and they have changed me to the cheaper tariff. Great customer support.

They're showing around £150 a year cheaper than Bulb for me.
what are the unit prices, vs bulb, to achieve such a big saving ?

justy looked, the bulb pre-payment charge(left) seems very competitive with what I pay bulb middle,
£30p/year more on 30kwhs a day ... they seem to be best at the moment, £150 cheaper than BG,
bulb seem to be trying to buy themselves into this market, i would ask how long that variable rate will remain ?

ok looks cheaper top variable oak&(green) / birch, principally down to the standing charge, currently half the bulb one, units on oak just ~0.2 cheaper.
but I don't see why there standing charge on fixed is so large ?

On refelection it makes sense ... they have cut out this stupid referral scheme bulb have, its directly £100 per year cheaper than bulb on standing charge.

Bulb do need to change their business model. I need to ring up bulb and tell them I'm off unless they give me £100,
I have previously negotiated with npower.

Really want to get a smart meter sorted on Bulb, my meters are under the stairs behind a huge shoe rack, two bikes and all of my wife and kids crap. Annoys the hell out of me to drag it all out to get a reading.

I’ve tried and failed on many occasions to get a referral on here so I figure it’s not going to happen. Great if you can get referrals say three times a year. The new tariff with Green has no exit fees so I will just switch again if they become uncompetitive.

Anyone advise the best provider to go with that don't force you to install a smart meter? I've looked on comparison sites but they're all sneaky in hiding the fact that to get the cheapest tariff you need to install a smart meter which I don't want.
