I don't have an issue with Ferdinand not having it if he's not going to be consistently fit, but I'd rather have given it to Lampard or Gerrard even. My biggest problem is that it appears Capello has gone to the media and told them before (and apparently after Baldini gave contradicting information) telling Ferdinand. Seems a bit lame.

Ferdinand shouldn't be captain if he never plays! But I don't think reinstating terry is the right thing. Not sure who else there is though. :(

I'd say on the pitch both are pretty good captains, which is what it should be judged on.

I think too many people try to tie a bit of morals and 'upstanding citizen' to it as well. You can't, a great deal of English / England footballers are tossers, we all know this.

Terry is a **** and made his bed as they say. To give it him back would be a joke.

Just give it to the keeper, why bother making a fuss out of it.

*******.

I dont think Capello wanted to drop Terry in the first place. This was always going to come back. The media wanted his head and Capello acted, waited until the press had moved and to a few newer flavours of the month and brought him back. Most of them are scrotes with dubious lifestyles so its hardly just to put one of them above the other.

To many people acting on club alliegences. He shouldnt be captain now purely because almost none of the current lot deserve to be in the team at all based on age and performance. Not because he likes to stick his wang in to other peoples ex's.

It's about time. It was the wrong decision to take it off him in the first place.

Exactly, he may not be the best role model off the pitch but who cares hes a great leader on the pitch where it matters plus he made it so we never have to see Wayne Bridge play for england again.

This is all a bit odd. It wasn't that long ago that Capello couldn't understand the importance about who was captain.

IINM Ferdinand has missed over half the games since Capello took over, in which case there's no surprise that he's losing the captaincy but to give it back to Terry is a massive turnaround. Forget the reasons why Terry lost the captaincy to begin with, after the BS he caused at the WC I wouldn't have been surprised had Capello not picked him again let alone give him the armband back.

There is an alarming lack of candidates now though.

People seem to be forgetting the main reason he wasn't captain anymore, role model has nothing to do with it, he absolutely, completely screwed over a team mate who was also a close personal friend. IT was his relationship with THE PLAYERS that was in question, their trust in him or lack of respect hurts his position as captain.

It was right he was taken off captains duty at that time, of who will play in the next pointless game he's probably the best choice, or maybe Lampard is.

Rio was a stupid choice, a guy whose barely been fit for 3 seasons who you can't rely on to play is a ridiculous choice for captain, as was bringing in King to the setup for the same reason, if they can't be reasonably expected to be available for most of the games, they shouldn't be picked, simple as that.

The biggest joke is still Capello being manager after showing zero improvement in England, making lots of big statements about his idea's like youth for England, giving them a couple friendlies then sending in the other guys for the real games, etc, etc. Frankly he picked Heskey once, we should have had him commited there and then.

Bridge doesn't play. He should have backed his captain to the hilt.

It doesn't matter whose captain when you pick a bunch of names playing well for their clubs in one position and jumble it about to fit them all in.

Capello should have walked or been sacked ages ago, before he takes Wilshire and tries to make him into a defensive midfielder with as much success and he had with Barry.
