England Captaincy

Young, Lampard and Wilshere have more than 11 assists between them even before taking Lennon into consideration, or are you talking assists only for games they started?
 
Just talking about Premiership games. According to ESPN, Young has the most with 6, followed by Wilshere and Lennon (aka Mr End Product) on 2 and Lampard with 1. Might be different on other websites but it's still not great considering they're meant to be four of the best attacking players we've got to choose from. None of them can defend either :o

Why shouldn't Glen Johnson be there? He's more that deserved his place after some fine performances from defensive positions this season.

He gets picked up on his defensive lapses now and again on MOTD so people assume that's what he's like every game. Truth is, he's been fantastic for us at left back this season and made very few mistakes where ever he's played.

He was abysmal at right back for England at the start of the season though, I'm not one of the GJ bashing brigade, but even so I thought his position sense was appalling, it was like we were literally playing without a RB at times.

I have to admit, I do recall some odd positional sence, that being said, it's not much worse then what I see from a lot of other defenders - it's just that their errors are not magnified as much as GJ's are. Like others have said, since he moved to left-back for Liverpool he has been putting some really good performances in this season.

Because he sucks balls as a defender.

He litterally defends like he has no idea where to start, or did the last few times I saw him for England.

Yes he can cross, yes he can shot, but not well enough to counter the fact he is a ******* rubbish defender.

England coach Fabio Capello claims Rio Ferdinand was at fault for not coming to meet him to discuss the decision to award the captaincy to John Terry.

However, the Italian has now laid the blame at Ferdinand's door by claiming he did not come to meet him when he visited Old Trafford for a UEFA Champions League clash earlier in the month.

Capello said: "It didn't happen, he didn't come. He didn't come."

Asked why the pair did not meet, he added: "This is a question for him, not for me. I was in the directors' box.

"I tried to meet him (Ferdinand) when Manchester United played against Marseille but he told me no.

"I can understand everything, but I need to make decisions. I think I will be happy and will meet him in the future."

What a ****, and I'm referring to Capello...I'd be ****** by hearing noises about the captaincy coming back up for grabs simply because a player is injured? I just don't understand the whole thing, so what if Terry captains the Wales game but to make this a big deal and give it him back on a permanent basis just because Rio is injured is stupid.

The only other thing is as, a few have said Rio's finished with England, and if thats the case so be it, but the whole thing stinks. All seems like he wanted this fuss just for the sake, as a build up prior to tomorrow.
 
How the Hell can JT even be considered as England captain. He wouldn't even make my team!
Most overrated defender ever. so many faults. Give it to Gerrard i suppose, but i don't think that's a good idea either.
There's no one else though!!!

As far as team selection goes, as long as Lennon isn't there, we'll be fine. That's why i hope Redknapp doesn't become Engalnd manager, we'll get that muppet in the team every game, skinning defenders then kicking it out for a goal kick or floating the ball over everyone
