With Gerrard and Ferdinand both being out, the only alternative for the Wales game would be Lampard.
You do realise that the rumours are that he's getting the captaincy back permanently, not just for the Wales game?
If it was just for the games with Ferdinand and Gerrard injured, it would be easier to understand but to go from stripping him of the captaincy to giving it back to him is a big turnaround. Especially when you consider what has gone on since then too.
Rumours tonight that FC has changed his mind again and Terry will only get it back for the Wales game
Who knows whether there is any facts behind the rumour or not
Haha @ not considering Ferdinand automatic first choice!
Sorry, I still don't see your reasoning with regards to how Rio not being first choice at a different club 8 or so years ago combines with you not having seen enough of Smalling to say it's not unreasonable for him to be first choice.
It is however a game of opinions so fair enough.
Rio Ferdinand could be the best defender in the World, never put a foot wrong and lives a clean and healthy lifestyle but because he left Leeds he will always be a dirty drug taking cheat, whore of a man.
Take no notice of Gilly, he is still under some misguided delusion that Rio was only bought as a replacement to Jonathan Woodgate (LOL)
^on the flipside you could argue that that means Terry only gives 90-95% when he isn't captain, which is pretty poor.
Nope, he was bought as a backup for Woody, not a replacement.
Gilly Loved Ferdinand, and its only the betrayal he felt when he left leeds for United that makes him so bitter.
We were talking on MSN during Japan and Korea in 2002 when Rio Scored against Denmark I think it was, Gilly told me he wanted to have Rio's babies.
2 weeks later or something he signed for United.
Oh dear.
