England V India ***Clash of the Heavyweights*** Test, T20 and ODI Series

Official excuse is that the BCCI were told "too late" that the event was being held on that time/date, so they told the players it was a free day and they respect their players too much to force them to change evening plans.

Great excuse, but there wasn't even a BCCI representative present, so no excuse for that.

It's bull****

The BCCI would have known months in advance. I find it hard to believe that not one person was there to represent Indian cricket, because they were told 'too late'

Sad state of affairs really. Just about sums up how corrupt India is, all they care about is money **** the sport.

Considering boycotting my support for this team, well, the team can only take so much blame but the BCCI have to be the ones who are mainly responsible. Still, the Indian players could have gone anyway, surely they knew it was taking place?

I'm beyond caring anyway, the whole thing just stinks of ****. It's not about winning or losing, it's more the fact that they have showed the English team a complete lack of respect regarding this tour and now they've just spat in the faces of the ICCI. They're supposed to be the world champions!

MS even won the spirit of cricket award .. there was quite an awkward moment when everyone in the room realised there wasn't a single person to collect it! heh

I feel for the players as well. Ultimately, they are puppets of the BCCI. The corruptness of the BCCI is a joke.

Thinking about it, is it any wonder that a lot of players play in the IPL and then choose to opt out of international series? At least in the IPL they get big bucks, and they're cheered on by capacity crowds. In international fixtures, they are pawns of the BCCI and (this tour excluding) play test matches with maybe 40% or 50% seats sold.

Corrected.

It's the end of an era today. Before this tour, the last time I watched Dravid play an ODI was in 2009 against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy. He later played against the Windies in that tournamanent, and hadn't played since. I didn't think he'd play another ODI for India again, I really didn't. I didn't approve of the move to bring him back for this tour either.

Why then, do I feel so sad knowing that today will be the last ever time that he steps out in colours? One of the greatest ODI players of all time.

Because Dravid's one of the few players India have who gives everything to the cause no matter the situation, no matter the format, and puts country before riches?

England have won the toss and will bowl.

Three changes for England, Bairstow for Stokes, Patel for Broad and Dernbach for Anderson.

What a ****ing joke. Once again a player is injured playing football

Praveen Kumar is out. That makes the injury list about 11 if I'm correct?

EDIT: they still haven't given Aaron a game, how stupid. The guy who bowled 95mph in a first class match
