England V India ***Clash of the Heavyweights*** Test, T20 and ODI Series

Their bowling is a mess atm, without Khan and with Harbhajan bowling rubbish/not fit they look really toothless.

Where's the usual dangerous Indian spinners? Needed a Kumble down one end today keeping the pressure on.

I know I keep banging on about TMS but please listen to this clip of the commentary from Broads hat-trick. I almost had tears in my eyes listening to that clip. I totally love Blowers and the excitement in his voice combined with the background atmosphere is just something else.

TMS this series has been just outstanding and many moments of commentary genius go beyond what you would even hear in an Ashes series.

Driving along in the car, windows down, sun shining and TMS tuned in - it makes summer what it is. It really is just like listening in to a conversation between a few lads down at the local club watching the cricket. Amazing.

Ah, someone else who thinks people should play within the law. :) Sounds like you agree that Bell ****ed up too?

I think Cricket is one of the few games still played by gentlemen. I admire India for rising above the laws and playing with old fashioned sportsmanship. But a gesture like that, in a game like this, deserved to go unpunished.

In my eyes it would have been totally different if both batsmen had done the same thing, that would have been enough to say that there was genuine confusion rather that one player getting it wrong and even being told to go back by the other player.

I also think it was wrong for the crowd to boo.

Still, it made no difference to the game and it's all sorted now, still a bit of a farce though. I'm not sure the game is still played by gentlemen, people still appeal for wickets that are blatantly not out, batsmen don't walk even though they know they are out. I must admit it is refreshing to see the decision by Dhoni and I do applaud it, not that I agree with it.

Gosh, well this test cricket is dull isn't it. Picked a couple of good days to go to :)

Right, haven't a hope in catching up with this thread, Bellgate and so on, but a few thoughts:
1) I think the right decision was reached in the end
2) Dhoni and India did something very honorable, but at the time it was very odd. I watched PK field the ball and the way he went to throw it back in was of the body language of someone who had given up. I'm not sure - without seeing replays - who thought the ball had stayed in, but I don't think there was many people on the ground who thought it had. I think the umpires could have applied some common sense about the whole thing at the time and everyone could have moved on.
3) Bell played a phenomenal innings - probably the best i've watched live by an English player. People might look back and say "well, looked like batting was easy" - That's only because he made it looked so easy to start and then totally dominated the bowling. Scoring 100 at a S/R of 80 on a wicket where the two strongest batting lineups in world cricket have been rolled over for under 300 in the first innings is some feat

Anyway, phenomenal cricket by England today. 400+ runs in a day. And it was nice that my bet with my friend - a bottle of bubbly if Sachin got 100 and vice versa if Bell did - paid off :D

Another day's play due to start. Predictions? I expect England to quickly pile on another 60-70 runs and either be all out or declare after lunch.

Broad pulled up?

Could put a more competitive edge on the rest of the game if both he and Swannage are carrying injuries.

Enjoying this, but still fearful of that Indian batting line-up. Just looking at their top 7 and thinking... is there any total they're not potentially capable of chasing down... and if England go into the Indian final innings with two below-par bowlers...

Well, I'm generally a pessimist...
