England V India ***Clash of the Heavyweights*** Test, T20 and ODI Series

He seems okay now, just over-stretched with pointless sprinting i guess.

Regarding chasing, highest on this ground was 280 something.
Highest ever is 418 and we'r beyond that now.

I'm sure you're right.

But, you really have no nagging doubts?

Dravid, Very Very Special, The Little Master, Raina, Yuvraj, Dhoni...

Get to 475 for a lead and even my ultra-pessimistic doubts will be silenced :)

True, but didn't NZ make 440 in a failed chase of 470 or so, I was hearing this morning? Just because the highest successful chase is 280 doesn't mean teams aren't capable of getting 400+ in a chase here.

This is true, and Strauss is quite conservative, so i expect us to bat until lunch.
If india can survive a day+2 sessions, then they deserve a draw.

A lot of this could be psychological though, a wicket renowned for being great for bowling and we go and post (likely) 520+ .. how demoralising

Yeah, I'd be very surprised to see an England declaration before lunch. I'm sure we'll just go for big biffing shots and super-aggressive cricket and see how long it lasts. If it does last until lunch then, yes, I imagine we'd put the Indians in with an unrealistic target.

Oh, and then there's the potential psychological impact of three declarations in four innings. I remember how demoralising it was to face the Aussies in their pomp, with the thought going around "we just can't get 20 of their wickets over a match".

Cant help but think that SA would have given us a much harder contest in our conditions though. They have a scary bowling attack and a batting lineup which matches up with anyones.

Absolutely agree. As thrilling as this test has been, it's now somewhat petering out as a contest. I sincerely doubt we'd have seen that with the Saffers on this pitch.

No way.

Look at how India have batted in the last few innings, it's all be really average and with England's bowlers on form it's only going to go one way. The best India can do is a draw imo, but even that will be very tough.

Yeah, my doubts have been exorcised this morning.

Which is saying a lot considering how exceptionally pessimistic I am!
