Tense start. Funny how the mainly Indian-frequented CricInfo reckoned it was England's day today, and that the Indian bowling was poor, whilst the Guardian thought we only barely held on against a incredibly questioning attack.

Pessimists, the lot of them. :p

It was a tough day, shown by England's run rate. Had India fielded better, then they may have had a couple more wickets. England can pick up their scoring rate, but India can't go back and take those missed chances. + the injury to Zaheer is very worrying :\

I was just about to say that I hoped he wasn't properly injured. If we want to beat India, we have to be able to do it against their best players.

It doesn't say whether he's definitely out for a while though, but it'll be a shame.

You want to be able to beat the best, with no excuses allowed, but to be honest it was clear from the warmup game he wasn't fit enough to last a test match so you can only blame him or the Indian cricket team management for not getting him in shape.
