England always seem to struggle against small teams and yet come up with great performances against the bigger teams.

Top of the group and got to say the gamble played off for sven Rooney was simply outstanding.

I'll give him the benefit off the doubt for another couple of games


but honestly Jazz if your beloved brazil had turned in the lack lustre perfomances we have in the last few months i.e macedonia, Lichenstein, Australia do you really think the manager would not be in the position Sven found himself in this week ???
 
Bit of a dirty team Turkey... glad we won in the end i'd have been gutted if we were denied it by 2 handballs and a professional tackle. ;)

It's good too see Wrighty still showing his enthusiasm, we still miss him, what a geezer.:)

The pressure's off Sven for the time being, but we need to be better against the lesser teams or we'll come unstuck one day.
 
I still think it was a penalty if you look again by his body shape Dyer is regaining his balance when first he is clipped on the left leg and then the turk puts both of his arms on him and kinda guides him onto the ground.

Dyer lost his footing, the Turk was clumsy, 50/50 IMO, but I'm not complaining.:D
 
First time i've been proud of the England team since the Germany game and the first time they've played well since god knows when (second half only of course :)).

Vassell has proved again that even though he pants at club level he always delivers for England and thats a hell of a lot more than Owen can say. Rooney oozed class all night except at the end when he got desperate for a goal ;). I think the foward men should be chosen out of Vassell, Rooney, Jeffers and Defoe. All young and all boding well for the future :).

and thats a good example hes setting to youngsters?

i think not .. hes one of the most "looked up to" footballers of our era and for him to do tht (with him being the nations captain) is appaling.
Any other player doing that may well have faced some sort of disciplinary action or an inquest or summin ...

the commanters also think the sun shines out of his backside .. nice pen thou :)
