Tendulkar robbed of another century in England! With his cramp you just knew he was gonna be out in the nineties again and yet again a poor decision against him. He has been really unlucky in the last few months. Three times not out in the nineties in ODIs and two times in Test cricket gone past 80 and got out!

Also maybe JohnnyG would know but wasn't that a no ball as well? Tendulkar was in the air and still had his arm up high and I thought anything over the helmet is a no ball in ODIs? If he was on his feet that would have surely gone over his head.

He was ducking a bit too so that might of made him 'shorter' and if the ball goes over head height it's a wide anyway, another one in the over above shoulder height would've been a no-ball

Same old England. What is the point of having Bell in at 3 if he can't score at a run a ball? Seems obvious to me to have Pietersen in at 3 and Bell at 4 or 5, though KP doesn't appear in the best form at the moment I think the side would benefit immensely from it.

Don't get me wrong, I think Bell is a quality player however he is too easily bogged down and struggles to find the boundary (especially aerially) when eh needs to. Far too often he nurdles his way to 50 and then when he tries to pick it up he loses his wicket- it's hardly a coincidence that he has 11 50s and only that 1 hundred which is a pretty poor conversion rate. Also, after Pietersen lost his wicket Bell really ought to have taken charge; instead the run rate increased to the point where England lost key wickets trying to chase the game after an excellent start. However, Bell was not the only player guilty of trying to nudge his way out of trouble when more direct action was needed.

Nice post & very true but chasing over 320 and getting 9 runs short is very good going no matter which way you look at it, just a shame flintoff didint get settled.

^By that logic Cook definitely shouldn't be opening the innings during the powerplays. He never* scores at a run a ball even in ODIs and is more of the type to cement an innings together.

In a funny sort of way we thought it was a blessing in disguise when Cook got out at the Rosebowl, as with not many overs left and 9 wickets in hand it was worth sacrificing to get KP in.

Same here Hangtime .. to be honest I thought both Cook and Bell were playing for their centuries .. 288 or whatever was a poor score given we finished 50 overs with 2 wickets down.

That was my gut feeling at the time, however as I mentioned earlier in the thread the outfield was stickier than a pornshoot pillowcase so there wasn't a great deal of boundaries available.

Has anyone else noticed KP always comes in at nightmare situations recently? Been ages since he's been able to play freely, most of the time he's trying to save an innings after a top order collapse or (more rarely must be said) runs out of overs to have an effect.

Shall be interesting if we can get a few early wickets as india arent scoring just yet it seems. hopefully waste enough overs like this until monty can come in and hopefully get a few, spinners going to work well on the pitch if earlier was anything to go by.

LOL looking at the cricinfo site, 2 quick wickets gone..first Tendulkar and now Karthik...who really has been a flop this series...looks like England are in business . Few more wickets and its ball game over for the Indians. Run rate is slowly increasing....shameful batting display from what im reading...
