English, CL & Europa League Football [12th - 18th Mar 2010] **spoilers**

Well I asked what Gerrard would be let off with this week after last weeks gesture at the ref. This week it's elbows apparently. So for anyone keeping a checklist, Gerrard is now allowed to dive, swear at refs and elbow other players. Any bets on next week?

Moon SAF after scoring a 98th min winner via a flukey deflection from Gary Neville's bumfluff moustache.

That would be epic.

These current threads in SA really are bringing me down. You can't have a serious discussion without getting shouted down, and you can't have a jokey thread (see Rooney and his gloves thread) without everyone being utterly humourless and dull.
Current? You might have only just noticed but it's been like this for ages in here...

I do wish referees had to explain themselves once in a while. He'll come out with "yes, I saw the incident and am confident that I dealt with it at the time" - at which point I'd love to hear the explanation of how his decision regarding punishment for elbowing someone was appropriate. Ah well.

I would love that, but theres no way that the FA will ever allow the referees to have accountability for their decisions. (more is the pity as I would love to hear directly from refs why they give certain penalties and why certain goals are disallowed).

I thought that Torres and Aquilani were great for us last night, one of the best performances I have seen from Aquilani so far (which admittedly isnt saying much).

Gerrard was out of order with the attempted clothesline on Brown and I would thoroughly expect the FA to be implementing a suspension of some sort once the case is reviewed.

Why is Gerrard such a moody bugger at the moment? He had a right face on him at the start of the game and pretty much all the way through it.

Gerrard hasn't looked as passionate as he has in recent years, he might have had enough of playing under Benitez or he's had enough of playing through an injury when the biggest tournament of his career is around the corner. He needs a break, hopefully an upcoming 3 match ban should sort that out. :p

Europa League?

Europa League?

Of course. Did you think I was talking about the World Cup? We all know where Gerrard's priorities lie. :p

'But, for me as captain and for the team, we've got one more trophy to lift. So we'll be giving everything. Anyone who underestimates the Europa League is not for me because I've lifted the UEFA Cup before. '

Quite unsurprising from Gerrard really, he's really racking up those incidents. I wouldn't also be surprised if he was just seeing how much he could get away with.

No, that's just how scallies act.

I'm really looking forward to the Chelsea game, hoping for lots of goals and Drogba to pull a hamstring. :p (Just kidding).

Happy 20th birthday Skip! Have a great one matey. :)

No action for Gerrard according to Talksport. What a ****ing joke. Did they not review the referee's performance? He got penalty shouts wrong, well out of his depth.

It's not corrupt at all if the referee saw it and took no action other than giving the foul. They couldnt charge him without causing themselves serious problems further down the line.
